Hi all,

Quick question regarding the new Jan. 1, 2017 deadline for the CPA application for CA applications – if I’ve submitted ALL the necessary paper work, but HAVE NOT completed the PETH exam, am I exempt from this deadline?

“Pursuant to Business and Professions Code section 5094.3(c), all pending applications
for CPA licensure that are not complete by December 31, 2016, will become subject to
the ethics study educational requirement change on January 1, 2017.”

If your application isn't complete, then you are subject to the new requirement. Your application is complete once all the documents are submitted. You should get the PETH done, you still have time. Unless you don't care about taking another college course….

You are not exempt. The PETH test is one of the requirements of application. You need to have that done ASAP as they only transfer scores to the CBA weekly. They are only exempting people who have ALL the requirements done for licensure, meaning if you have anything at all left to complete, you will be subject to the new class requirement. Get it done!!!!! You can do it from any computer anywhere, but it does take some time.

This stupid EXAM IS SO HARD… I looked up EVERY ANSWER.. and still didn't pass.

It took me 3 times to pass. All you need to do is to look up reference for each question. Using search function is essential skill to pass this stupid exam. Do not waste your time for studying. Also, exams get easier each try (although no same question). Third one is the easiest. You will pass for sure on your 3rd try. 🙂
