@terrisilva – Not in CA, but I sent all of my license application materials certified with return receipt. I was paranoid something would get lost. I think it's a good thought to do so – that way you know for sure it's arrived. Good luck!

I have not done the live scan yet as the live scan form link on the CBA was not working. When I e-mailed CBA licensinginfo, they said they will send the live scan form after they receive my application due to some new fBI regulations they are not able to provide it ahead of time. I see a lot of the CA applicants are already doing the live scan, is there anyway I can do it now ahead of time to expedite the process?

Called CBA today to verify that my check made it to their office. They received it on the 10th. The time frame she provided is 4-6 weeks for issuance of a license number and an additional 2-4 weeks for the actual certificate…………..the wait….is killing me………….

Just FYI, if you call the CBA, some people will be more helpful than others. I submitted my initial licensing fee last month, certified mail, they received it March 18th. I called March 28, the person told me that my check was “cashiered” on March 19th. Additionally, she told me that the person who processes them goes through by cashiered date (makes sense), AND that on that day (Mar 28) the person was working on March 4th cashiered dates. (It did sound like it's just ONE person doing this.)
I waited a few weeks, called back two days ago, the 16th, and asked where my app was. New lady told me she didn't know, and when I asked what cashiered date they were on… she said she didn't have access to that info.
I'll let y'all know when I get my email, I know the wait sucks.

Got my email! So they made it to March 19th cashiered date on April 22.
Kay-this doesn't make a whole ton of sense if you called them today because I got my email at 8:30 am this morning… so that is a bit strange, maybe they're doing a few days at a time? I dunno.

One thing I forgot to be clear on for everyone else that isn't making phone calls on the regular, note that my cashiered date was the day after I showed it received at the cba via tracking, and when it cleared the bank wasn't relevant, it's just when they open the letter and put your application in the “paid” stack.

@terrisilva my time frame is similar to yours. I also got an email that I am short 2/3 of a credit from ethics study. 2/3! seriously? I was lucky to find “Organizational Behavior” class through Lake Tahoe Community College that has just started (4/22) and it's only 10 weeks long. Thank god I was able to sign up late, otherwise I would have to wait till Summer quarter or even Fall!

@terrisilva can you call and ask about that class? I wonder if they have the ability to pull up your transcripts and check that for you. I thought I have enough “ethics sounding” classes but now I wonder if they did not count one or some of them? The one I found at LTCC is exactly the same title as the one accepted by CBA so should be ok

I left a message (they never answer) and replied to their email. Here is the description of the class I took:

Through practice and multiple assessments, this course focuses on the knowledge and development of managerial skills needed to advance in the accounting profession. The skills emphasized in the course include: written and oral communication, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, teamwork, managing change and conflict, negotiation, networking and delegating.
    Prerequisites: BUS 3050, Graduate Standing

    It's worth a try anyway.

Terri congrats on being so close and that sucks they pushed back with the ethics course. I am somewhat familiar with their ethics class requirement as I had to take one myself last year before I was able to fully get my application accepted. I hope I am wrong but I dont think they'll accept that leadership and professional skills for accountants class. When I inquired about a class I had taken in my undergrad years ago relating to a general financial professional ethics and responsibilities class; they didn't accept it on the grounds it didn't specifically have “accountants” and “ethics” in the course name or description. i really do hope they allow your class to work.

There is somewhere on the CBA website where they give a description of the type of class that fulfills this, and i think they even elaborate a bit on what the coursework must be about and what the description of the class must include.
