    Hello,

I worked for one of the big 4 for 1 yr and 10 mo in tax, then moved to another mid-sized public accounting firm (also in tax) and it’s been about another 4 months here. With my over 2 years of experience, I’m realizing that tax wasn’t the most wise decision for me. Would there be any chance for me to start over (before it’s even later) and go for audit? Has anyone faced the same situation as me?

    Please help!

While I haven't been in your exact same situation, I do know of a few people who have switched from audit to tax and vice-versa in their first 2 years. Some firms even offer a rotation program to their interns. Is it too later considering you've been in the industry for over 2 years? Maybe, but it's all about how good of a story you can come up with and what led you to make the switch. If you have that down, I don't see why you wouldn't move ahead.

    Thanks ShruteBeet,

Unfortunately my current firm does not offer such a program – Would you recommend me to apply for Big 4 audit internship or full time position? I am not sure if I will still be eligible for internships..

Also I have 2 more sections of CPA exams left before other sections expire in July – Should I consider withdrawing from my current job, pass the CPA, and start looking for a job opportunity in Audit? Does anyone have any advice on this plan?

Have you ever done any audit work? Hopefully you have and you like it better than tax which is why you want to switch. I don't know if it's the best idea to switch just because you don't like tax, you may not like audit either.
