    Hey Guys

I am just wondering are there avenues I can take that are not purely accounting focused? I find accounting is getting a bit boring and just wondering what others have done to solve this? I feel guilty because I invested so much time into this (got my accounting degree and passed my CPA exams) but I don’t really feel I have the passion for this. I am not a person with a passion for numbers, I would prefer to do something that involves a lot more interaction with people than excel. I find it ironic that my 2 friends do have a passion for this and they are struggling to pass the exams still… any advise would be appreciated.

Titoav15, there are a lot of careers in which you can do some accounting and some other things. My advice would be to consider small companies. Small companies need generalists rather than specialists. Often there are professional positions such as office manager, business manager, and controller that require a wide range of skills. You end up doing HR and payroll or marketing and administration or some combination thereof, in addition to accounting/bookkeeping.

I held three “accounting/business manager” type positions on the strength of a couple of accounting courses I took for my MBA 30 years ago. (Hated accounting back then, by the way.)
