    Hi all,

I’m just now getting through the NFP and Governmental accounting sections using Wiley and will be done “learning” the materials in about a week. That puts me about 2 1/2 weeks out from test day to take FAR, in which I will complete all the MCQ’s that I can and continue to review and rewrite the Ninja notes. I’ve been seeing how intense the SIMS were this last Q and have been getting a little worried about my test date. Is there anything specifically that I should focus on in the last two and a half weeks before the exam? What do you guys recommend doing a day or two before the test?

FAR is too much of a beast to say, “here's what topic to focus specifically on”. I think that you should start doing progress tests. Once you're done going through the book, take a 20 question quiz on each module/chapter covered in your book. This way you'll have a baseline as to what areas are giving you more trouble.

When it comes to the NINJA notes, I would hold off on re-writing those notes. Instead, I recommend that you take notes as you do your MCQs. Sometimes, there's details within the MCQs and the explanations that are not really discussed in the book or lectures.

Once you're through the MCQs, hopefully you'll have a week or so to either review all your notes, or re-write them.

Lastly, two days before the test, I still do as many MCQs as possible, but only on my weak areas, or I re-do questions I got wrong the first time around.

The day before the test, I only review my notes, because at that point, I know what I know and don't want to try and cram anything else in. This way, I feel a bit more “relaxed and refreshed” going into exam day.

"FACT": The odds of consecutively passing all four sections of the CPA exam on the first try: 7%.

You have a great shot. Like spencer said there's no magic formula “to know” to pass. once you start doing your review and progress tests make sure you improve on your weak areas. Go through as many MCQs as you can without burning out. As you mentioned the sims were a beast and I'm not sure how to prepare for them. I always like to do practice sims on the big topics like cash flow, consolidation, leases, bonds, and EPS. Hope that helps.
