In my original jurisdiction I had applied with the paper application few years back and I believe I had send it to the State Board. So coming to current situation, I am planning to switch jurisdictions as I reside in NY now. So, is CPA central the only option for switching? Is this what candidates use? Anyone’s experience would be great, especially for requirements validation (credit hours, etc).

Depends on the state you are switching to. CPA Central is only for CPAES States. If you are changing to a state that NASBA/CPA Examination Services does not handle the applications/education evaluation for, then you would not use CPA Central. When you log into your CPA Central account and click change jurisdiction, it lists the states you can change to. If your state is not listed, then you must apply directly with the state board itself.

I had called around and finally figured it out. Yes, NY is part of CPA Central, and currently I am only going ahead with an evaluation of my transcripts to make sure I have all that I need before doing the actual application. Hoping for the best. And thank you for your helpful response~

You also want to look at the reason for changing jurisdictions. Whenever you apply to a new state you have to have new applications submitted, new documents submitted, and go through the whole evaluation process again. Most states will allowing licensing via transfer of grades. Sometimes its easier to continue sitting in a state you are already eligible for, pass the exam, then transfer your scores for licensure.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to change jurisdictions in middle of exams (I am sitting on an active NTS for BEC, and would hate to invalidate that due to jurisdiction change), better to be done and transfer. So, the plan is to wait until I have all 4 done before I do any sort of applying, and I am currently waiting on credit evaluation anyway. Which in this case, say I pass all 4, have the 1 year work req. , 150 credits, etc as per NY, then I can just straight away apply for the License part instead…if I am understanding it all correct, lol.

This process beginning was a little confusing for me and I honestly did not think anyone was going to reply to this post, so I really appreciate your input that much more.

Hi! I have a quick question I'm hoping you can help me with. Does New York State require license applicants who took the exams through another jurisdiction (e.g. Hawaii) meet the education requirements (i) by the time they apply for the license in New York, (ii) by the time they took the CPA exams, or (iii) by the time they applied to sit for the CPA exams?

I passed FAR through Hawaii, but I'm worried that because I passed it before I earned by education requirements for NY, I won't be able to move my scores to NY.

Hi, I applied for the first time to FAR in the New York jurisdiction and wanted to change to another jurisdiction.. Could you please advise me regarding what will happen to my current FAR application (application & exam fees) if I proceed with the change request
