So, I’ve decided to supplement my study material for my retake for BEC with CPA Excel. Has anyone used CPA Excel for BEC? Can you offer your thoughts and opinions?

    Thanks in advance!

What were you originally using? I'm taking BEC for the third time on 10/3 and started using a 2014 version of the Wiley book for some new questions. I feel like I've already memorized a lot of questions in Ninja and Roger and needed some fresh ones.

Sorry I can't give any feedback on CPA Excel. When I was deciding on review courses it was between them and Roger. It seems to get mixed reviews from people on here.

@Re2pect, I was using Ninja and Roger. Like you, I think I've memorized the majority of the answers, so I wanted to supplement my study material.

I used CPA Excel 2015 version for BEC and it prepared me well for the exam, which I passed comfortably. Make sure to go over COSO and IT problems plenty of times, as well as the formulas. Lectures are a little bit of a waste in the sense that professors are basically repeating what the book says.

    Good luck!

I used CPAexcel and passed comfortably as well. I have used CPAexcel for every section, and I basically stopped watching the videos altogether. They really don't benefit you that much, and take up a lot of time. CPAexcel now has the additional test bank that I think I have really benefitted from, so that might be something to look into.

Thank you guys! You are making me feel good about my purchase! @musiccitycpa, you are the second person who suggest not even watching the videos. Did you just read the book and concentrate on MCQs?

Wiley CPAExcel and Wiley's test bank were what I used to pass BEC earlier this year. I watched the videos (although I tended to fast forward through them at the end as they aren't the most time efficient way to study) and answered all their post lesson questions and would then follow that up by using the test bank. It's a good course and will give you what you need to pass but you'll have to play around with and see which study method with it works best for you as they give alot of resources (slides, flash cards, etc.) that might not be your cup of tea.

@qfolmar, yes I just read and focus on the questions. I found my mind wandering when I watched the videos. If I just read the book and stop to check my phone, I can pick up right where I left off. And many times in the videos they would admit they haven't gone over everything and tell you to read the book anyway. I would also use the flash cards to narrow in on concepts.

I'd recommend just getting the book for $50. The MCQs for BEC in CPAExcel were not very good at all and few in number. I don't know about the videos since I never watch videos.

I did the free trial of the Wiley test bank. It was ok, but not worth $150 in my opinion. There were a bunch of repeats between Ninja and Roger. That's the main reason I didn't want to buy another online test bank. I wanted to use Gleim, but no way I'm dropping $250 to see a bunch of the same questions.

I don't think you need a whole other package, but if money isn't an issue then do what you have to do to pass.

Oh yeah, and the MCQs in CPAExcel and Wiley Test Bank are different. CPAExcel has about 950 questions (plus “supplemental questions”) and Wiley Test Bank has 690 questions.

I used CPA Excel for BEC without watching one video and then used Ninja MCQs to review for about 2.5 weeks afterward and passed on my first try, so I am confident you will not regret your purchase! I will say that the Ninja MCQs were a bit more in depth with the calculations and helped me familiarize myself with those a bit more than CPAExcel did so it was a great supplement.

I didn't like the videos for BEC with CPAexcel, but the book and the pacing was good. I used the test bank with CPAexcel and the NINJA MCQ as well. I think the NINJA MCQ were really helpful. Some questions in the test bank for CPAexcel were much more difficult than anything I saw on the exam, but it's good practice.
