CPA License – ITIN for an international candidate

    Hello guys,

I am in a dilemma. I passed my exams and I’m in the process of applying for my license. I’ve just discovered that the state I’m registered under, Massachusetts, require either a SSN or ITIN for the license application even though I am an international candidate with no ties to the USA (was under the impression that Massachusetts did not require citizenship or residency).

Has anyone experienced this and what did you use as support for your W-7 form?

    Hi Angelique,
I am also an international candidate by MA, however, I did not pass all parts of the exam yet. Did you get the ITIN number? was that an easy process?
If you could share other issues you had to be licensed, I would appreciated.
    thanks

@Angelique90242 , it is not an issue. Candidate not having a Social Security Number or ITIN have to fill a form and get it Notorize . Your State Board will provide the form.

Hello Angelique and ANONYMOUS, Did IRS issue your ITIN? I am based outside US, and requested the ITIN number through mailed form to IRS, however, It was rejected. IRS does not consider CPA license a valid reason for issuing the ITIN. Do you have any advise to give me? Thank you
