CPA License MA Timeline

    Hi everyone,

    Just wondering if anyone has experience applying a CPA license in MA? I sent out my application with USPS priority mail 2 weeks ago (the app was delivered on Nov 29) but have not heard anything back. My check has not been cashed yet. I’m just thinking they should at least cash my check but it’s nothing. If anyone has the timeline and share it with me, that would be so great!

    A few of us who mailed our applications in November received our licenses in November. For myself, my license was issued only a few days after delivery of the application.

    If you go to the web portal for looking up CPA license holders, you can effectively download the database of CPA licensees in MA, then sort by issue date. This will give you a sense of the board's activity. It may be that they are not actively issuing licenses right now. There were definitely stretches in the database where no licenses were issued. I don't have a solution for you beyond that.

    Unless something has changed the application has to be received two weeks before the next board meeting and the license is granted at the meeting. The board meeting was December 7 so you may have missed the cutoff for December licensing and need to wait for the next meeting. You'd be able to look up your license number the next day.

    It's now over a month. My check still has not been cashed. I contact MA Board every way. Sending several emails without their response back at all. Gave them a call but they said they could not check for me if they received my application. Nothing they can do. I am so depressed with getting the license.

    I don't even have a right to know if they received my application or my package is missing 🙁

    If I walk in to contact them, would this help?
