Hello all, quick question about the CPA license #. I know that anyone with a license can get searched up online and that the license # is public information on various state websites. But was wondering if anyone can do anything malicious with it. For example, is it a good idea to post the license # and certificate to your LinkedIn profile for strangers to see? would this be safe? Thanks.

Hi Fred, I don't see the need to post the license # and certificate on your LinkedIn profile since anyone can go on Cpaverify.org and find it. It's public information. I think it's enough to just have the letters behind your name on your profile. But that's just me. 🙂

Agree with above. No additional benefit to posting the license number.

    Thanks for the responses

There is a certificate section on LinkedIn where you can put your license information this way it can be easier for recruiters to find you. Simply putting cpa after your name may not do the trick.
