Anybody know of good websites to use for random data with Excel? I’m guessing Excel might have a feature that generates random information but if it does Idk how to do it. Looking to get some Excel practice in before starting work next month.

Google Microsoft Office Excel 2013 Comprehensive. I believe one of the author's last name is Poatsy.

It is the support site for the textbook. There is a full zip file of all the chapters in the textbook. Goes through from basics to advanced excel stuff. It only skims the surface of the functionality of excel, but its a great resource.

You may be able to find an e-copy of the text to practice the exercises that go with the excel files.

    Cheers.

How many studies get caught by numerical errors built into Excel? Somehow, when you work with fractions it can introduce tiny errors in the numbers. The errors are many digits to the right of the decimal. But if you do a huge number of calculations, and if small differences are important to you, then Excel can screw up your data. For example, I have Excel 2007. Start with a sheet that has not been formatted. Enter 19.0 in box A1. In box A2, enter +A1-.19 Copy that for the next 99 boxes below.

Each box will show an answer that looks exactly right, until you get to box A101. Box A101 show show zero. Instead, it shows -5.5E-15. If you subtract 0.19 six hundred times, you get an error of 8.66862E-13. Every version of Excel I have ever used had a similar issue. Depending on the nature of the study, systematic errors like this could be irrelevant or could totally change the results.

Solver in your Excel Homework projects.
