Does the Exam try to Trick You? (REG)

I know that of all the practice questions I have done so far for REG, there are so many nuances and small details that it’s hard to not get tricked into selecting the wrong answer.

For example, what happens to the loss/gain on a Qualfying small business stock on a transfer(gift/death), etc which is then sold.

Holding period for long term capital gains must exceed one year. Exactly one year means an ordinary gain/short term loss.

Exactly 20% ownership affects the DRD how? 70% deduction or 80%?

These are just a few examples of the tricks that I’ve encountered.

Surely, the CPA exam itself can not be that nuanced?

I don’t recall FAR, AUD, or BEC being as tricky as my study materials.

    BEC - 97
    FAR - 86
    REG - 87

Yes, I would assume there will be tricks involved.

I found the real exam questions to be more clear and direct…

Though keep in mind that I'm saying that not having the luxury of reviewing their “correct” answers. I found a TON of errors in Becker, and Wiley had far more errors in my accounting courses. If you're spotting them, that means you understand the issues and are likely fine.

    BEC - 84
    FAR - 89
    REG - 86
    Aaron and always remember, YMMV

I profit from your CPE frustration. You're welcome.

According to my personal experience, sometimes over practicing will distracting you from leaning the core concepts and I found I don't remember most questions i did after 10 days.I have complete 40% becker questions before taking the exam and skip the final review, I spend a lot of times on preparing study notes to help myself understand and memorize the content, I organize those small pieces knowledge in excel. But if you enjoy practicing, please ignore my experience.
    Good Luck!
