Well as the title says it…FAR was brutal. Had a medium testlet, then a hard, and then a medium one..then when I got to the SIMs…lol I just cursed my life..Im hoping I got 1 fully right and the 1 research, and then partials for the remaining, but pretty much I left 3 sims blank… has anyone thought they did SOOOOO poorly on the sims on FAR and ended up passing? Would love to hear some stories and hopefully something to calm my nerves..

    AUD- PASSED 11/16

    BEC- PASSED 12/16

    REG- PASSED 1/17

    FAR- PASSED 3/17

My current roommate is one of the laziest and biggest dirtbags I've ever met. He passed FAR with leaving 4 sims blank. Feel better.

He did say he felt extremely confident on the MC though, and he passed with a 75. But you still got a shot.

You and I are in the same boat, I left one completely blank. We'll get through it though, you're not alone.

I took FAR two weeks ago and passed (barely – 75) with a similar experience as you. This was my 3rd attempt and I thought it was going to be my worst score – that's how terrible I felt when I left prometric. I flagged like 11 questions in my first testlet. By the time I got to SIMS, I was so beat down. I wasn't even confident that I had the research question right. I felt okay about 2 sims, not sure about research, guessed/filled in random answers on a couple more, and left a couple blank because I ran out of time.

I seriously don't understand how the scoring works sometimes, like how you can feel so confident and not pass or feel terrible and somehow still pass. Oh, AND my diagnostic report said I did stronger than other candidates in SIMS – LOL.

I am crossing my fingers that you will be pleasantly surprised like I was!!

    Lord, beer me the strength...

I took FAR twice. First time I scored weak on SIMs and got a 66, second time I still scored weak and got a 76. Stay positive

i failed FAR with doing very poorly on the simulations.. it was my first test, and the simulations were SO easy that i thought the test was trying to trick me… so i changed my answers believing that i was being asked something different…yeah.

i passed FAR with doing very poorly on the simulations… they were MUCH harder second time around.

got the same research question on both tests though.. so that was helpful (:

also did very poorly on REG simulations (very well on mcq though), and passed.

i hope you get good news on the 21st.

@nk552 you are not alone, took the monster this afternoon and I literally could not figure out if I was doing good or not on the MCQ. I felt like I knew a lot of the calc answers and the tons of IFRS questions that they drilled me on did not phase me. I flagged probably 20 questions of the 90 then came the sims and my oh my were they brutal. I got 2 100% right then got 70-80% on the next two. The DRS was so long and didn't even need to use the workoaoers the answers would only come from if you knew how a certain account worked itself out in various situations. The last two though were out of this world. I ended up trying to figure out one of them and then just moved to the next and that one wasn't much better so I filled it zeroes to finish it off. If I didn't crush the MCQ's I'm doomed.

@Cruzer, our FAR exam experience must have been very similar. I picked at the two longest SIMs for over 45 minutes, like a plate of Lima beans that had to be eaten before I could be excused from the table.

“Good enough” has been my motto for preparing for these exams, but it won't surprise me if I came up a bit short this time.

I'm hedging my bets by continuing MCQ practice; it will be less painful to knock out 50 a day until score release than starting over. If needed, I want to be ready for a re-take in April.

Now, in a last-ditch attempt to coax out a 75 on this fat bastard, I am going to play nicey-nice with my AICPA voodoo doll. No pins this time, I promise…

It's going to be tough because sims are 40%.

I failed with a 74 this quarter because I was weak on sims and strong in MCQ. I only left 1 blank and for the rest, I tried my best.

apparently someone here claimed they skipped 4 sims and still manage to pass. My younger brother skipped 2 sims and manage to get 85. So, don't worry about it until you get your exam.

I basically wrote random numbers in 4 of them and still got an 82. I would be more concerned about getting two medium MCQ tests.

yes. Anything is possible with this exam. I had med, hard, easy testlets and 45 min for sims. After I cried for 5 minutes I answered whatever I could but left 3 Sims blank… The research I couldn't find so I put whatever was related to the topic.

@Karrie @Nathalie both of your stories give me hope on this last section I took yesterday. I just couldn't believe the complexity of the SIMS. I studied about 7 weeks and although I could of used 1 maybe 1.5 more weeks I felt confident going into exam. The thing that was upsetting was not being able to tell the level of difficulty of the testlets or how I did. Not much to do until the 21st but pray that it was the last time stepping into Prometric.

Just curios how did you guys feel the first few attempts at FAR?
