Ethics Self-Study Exam – Troubleshooting??

    Hi,

I’ve been trying to take the ethics exam through the online self-study course all weekend (I’ve already gone through all the material, I didn’t skip anything) and every time I try to take it, I get about halfway through and the test window says a “fatal error occurred” and the test closes. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, and Safari; I have used both my work PC and my personal MacBook; I have updated my Adobe Flash player; I have tried the wi-fi at several different places (my house, my boyfriend’s house, work, even a Panera at one point) – no matter what I do, this happens EVERY TIME, either that or the test just won’t open at all. And it’s never that the wi-fi goes out, because every other window still loads fine – it’s literally just the test itself that craps out. So, two questions regarding this situation if anyone else knows:

    1. How do I make it stop? and

    2. If this happens does it submit my score? Because I obviously wouldn’t want that…

    Thanks.

And yes, just to clarify, my pop-up blocker is off on every browser I have.

I used the AICPA version and the only test interface was a scantron-looking answer sheet. I had no issues with it.

As much as it pains me to say this….try Internet Explorer on a PC.

    …that hurt…

I really really dislike IE, but when I have a website that won't work in other browsers, sometimes it will work in IE. From the bit I've dabbled in web programming, at least at the time I did (granted that's been a few years), IE doesn't “follow the rules” right, and all the other browsers do. So, that means if something's programmed to be compatible with IE, they have to program it “wrong” for IE, and if they don't also program it “right” for everything else, then it won't work for the other browsers.

So…you might want to try IE on your work PC. And then never open IE again except for rare occasions like that.
