    Hi fellow ninjas!

First time poster here and I am in a bit of a dilemma. I applied to sit for the CA CPA exam at the beginning of December and in the meantime began preparing for BEC expecting to take the test at the beginning of March before the exam update. After following up with the CBA, I have found out that there were issues with one of my transcripts not being received and my application is considered incomplete and it will take 6-8 weeks to process once my last transcript is received (re-requested a transcript to be rush shipped by the end of this week). Now my question is, do I continue preparing for BEC in hopes of still being able to sit before the update? Or, do I switch to a section that is not going to be as greatly affected by the update and expect to take that first thing in Q2 (or even potentially end of Q1 if my application is processed in time)? Note, I have only ordered the BEC materials from Becker expecting to request for the rest of the materials after the update.

Thank you in advance for the advice and opinions ninjas, good luck in your studies!

    Regards,

    CMRN89

    Hi,

I hope you did well on your first exam. Based on your comments about FAR, I'm certain that BEC and the others won't be a problem for you. Just get through all the Becker questions and lectures and you'll pass. I had very little prior knowledge and I crammed BEC and AUD in 5 weeks (5 hours a day) just by going through all the material as thoroughly as I could. (REG took 8 weeks on and off) I'd like some advice, can you call or text me at 201-503-4952 or email me at bhavin52@me.com whenever you have some time to spare. My exam is in a week. This'll be my final exam and I wanted some pointers. You have gotten through the toughest exam. It's just a matter of time til' your done with the rest. Good luck and let me know if you need help!

    Best Regards,
    Vin

I would not worry too much about the exam changes occurring in BEC. The CPA exam always changes and that is a fact of life. If you ordered exam materials for BEC, then continue studying for that section. Do not underestimate BEC just because it appear simple based on the fact that it is a mosh-mash of IT, corporate governance, economics, finance and cost accounting. I barely passed BEC with a 75 exactly.

Now, my advice would be to start with FAR first. The NINJA notes and MCQs are fantastic and I would use them if I were studying for the exam today.

When you do begin studying, start right away with MCQs and do not look back. When you start doing them you may fail most MCQs at first but read the explanations why you got the problems wrong and this will faciliatate active learning. I always tell candidates you need to actively learn with the CPA exam because that is how you really learn stuff.
