Failed AUD, what to do?

    I used strictly Wiley CPA Excel for my first attempt on AUD (failed 68). This time I used strictly Ninja Materials from the 10 point combo (failed 62). I don’t know what to do. I have spent over 200 hours both times studying for this exam and still come up short. Should I combine the two materials? Should I supplement one over the other? I am lost. I usually just read the books then do thousands of MCQs over and over and over till the exam. While doing MCQs I tend to turn harder concepts into flash cards and review them leading up to the test. I also listen to Ninja Audio on my way to and from work/church. I don’t feel like rewriting or taking notes has been helpful for me as I feel like I get bored and don’t pay attention to what I am doing. I have access to tons of videos and other things within the study materials but I don’t know what to do now (i.e. how to attack this again).

    I HAVE a life now.

    Hey man,

    I'm sorry you didn't pass it this time. I also failed AUD twice (73, 74) before passing it this time (91). I have been using Becker. To me the hardest part was material related to FAR. I think as soon as you took FAR which I saw you scheduled, AUD becomes easier.

    Now in term of studying, I have found listening to audio on my way to work/home doesn't really help that much. I'd say set a schedule about 2 hours/day weekday to just sit down and focus 100% on the material. Imo, AUD is probably the hardest part to pass despite being the shortest, just because the material seems too conceptual. I haven't tried Ninja or Wiley so I cant speak for them, but Becker's SIMs exercise are excellent source to get familiar with the actual exam.

    I have the the Becker textbook for AUD with highlighted notes if you feel like that would help. I'm happy to send it to you seeing I wont need it in at least 18 months.

    Good luck moving forward

    Guys.. I found out I failed and with a low 65. Devastated, frustrated.. can't even start. I AUD 5/7 and BEC 5/30 so hoping at least I passed one out of two. Was planning to take REG by 10/1 and wondering if I can push to re-take AUD by 9/2 (hoping to take memorial weekend off after working horrible hrs the past 2 months) PLEASE PLEASE ADVISE.I don't know what to do and my level of desperation is out of my control. Goal is to be done with this nightmare in 2017.

    I really feel like Audit is the toughest for me also. I passed BEC and REG on the first shot, failed FAR with a 70 when I know I didn't prepare like I should have. Audit I felt prepared and got a 64. I just retook it last week, and if I failed again I might start looking at another course (currently using Roger), so I might be in the same boat as you. After I failed the first time I kind of started from scratch. Since I passed REG and BEC, and took FAR in Q2, I took a week off and had 3 months to focus on AUD.
    I'd say maybe take a couple day breather, think about the parts of the test you may not have been comfortable with and try to focus on those. Good luck.

    I am using Becker… unfortunately I had passed AUD with a 77 but lost it and now I retook it 5/7 and failed it with a 64 when I felt I prepared really hard for it. I am thinking on retaking it 9/2 if they still have spots. Waiting on BEC now. Do you think I should try to cram it and take it in this window? I mean, it should be a review right? Although haven't open AUD since I took it 3 months ago. Really don't know what to do.

    Thanks for all the input

    @Emiya245
    I appreciate the offer on the book. A collegue just offered me the same book. I will save you the hassle, but it is MUCH appreciated.

    @SomewhereOvertheRainbow
    If you haven't looked at AUD material since May it might be difficult to recall all the information necessary to take the exam that quickly. You might be throwing money down the drain. If you have the cash and think you are still fresh enough on the topics it is essentially a roll of the dice.

    @bhuekels
    Thanks! I think I may wait till all of my scores release and then re-assess. I felt much better leaving Prometrics about BEC and FAR so here is hoping I will only have to re-take AUD.

    @somewhereovertherainbow I'd say it's really up to you and how much you remember it when you start looking at it again. It is a bit of a review, but I would still want to look at all parts of the study materials.

    Sounds good! Thank you guys for your responses. Very much appreciated.

    I scored 61, 72, and finally 77 to pass Audit. It took me a long time to pass Audit. I didn't really change my studying method because I know it worked for three others. What I did though differently this time was reading the text several times and working sim every day for an hour leading up to the exam. Not a great score but pass is a pass!

    @NinjaSlayer

    Yeah. It's very frustrating. I felt like I studied so hard for this one and still didn't pass it. I am demotivated and definitely at the verge of giving up. To my question above. Do you think cramming and trying to take it on 9/2 would be a waste of money/time? Should I just try to take it next year Jan 6? I just really really wanted to be done with this nightmare by 12/31.. but there's only one window left in this year.

    @somewhereovertherainbow-I think you have a chance in 3rd quarter. Cram over three weeks. Try reading books on weaker areas first week while doing mcqs and sim. Then do full mcqs and sims everyday next two weeks.

    @Demo- My text is Beckers. I read this book three time front and back for third take. I bought wiley test banks and mixed it up with becker mcqs and sims. Also pay a visit to aicpa and do the sample test.
