Failed BEC WC & still passed? What was your score?

I’m basically looking for some peace of mind in my final review week. Have any of you failed the written communication in BEC but still passed? What was your score? Especially interested in hearing from those who took BEC after January 1, 2011.

Please share your experiences so I can have some reassurance. Here is a little background on me on the tests I took in 2011:

AUD – 75; Weaker on MC but comparable on Simulations

REG – 74; Stronger on MC but weaker on Simulations

You guys think I’m good? My test is on Monday so I’m just doing MCQ’s from here on out. I’m just worried about the WC because I’m not confident I can explain the subject they’re asking for or know the definitions by heart. However, I can spot the correct definition (answer) in a MCQ without hesitation.

how do you know you would fail WC? I am an ESL, and still pass BEC comfortably. To my understanding, the concept of your writing is not that important, but the tone you set does count. If I can, no reason you cannot. Cheer up

    FAR 11/08/2011 90
    BEC 11/29/2011 85
    REG 01/03/2012 91
    AUD 02/03/2012 86
    DONE!

Thanks go2eu. Any chance you used Becker to pass BEC? If so, what were your scores on the practice final exams?

Right now because of time constraints, I'm finishing up the passmaster questions but only doing them once and not moving to the next question until I truly understand the answer. I'm also taking notes and making flashcards to help with my understanding of that question.

On Weds, I plan on taking a practice final exam and the 2nd practice exam on Friday.

I used both Becker and Wiely. but for final review purpose, I used Wiely only (not to say Becker is not good, just running out of time to do more). I got around 81 to 84, and feel they both will prepare you well for BEC, even though there is slight difference in coverage. If you are good at MCQ, you really have a good chance to beat it, after all MCQ counts 85% in BEC, compared to only 60% in other sections. Take it easy, bro! Will hear your good news

    FAR 11/08/2011 90
    BEC 11/29/2011 85
    REG 01/03/2012 91
    AUD 02/03/2012 86
    DONE!

I pass on WC with comparable and MCQ also comparable. Becker will be sufficient for your BEC test. Just be sure to know the formulas by heart, they are tested heavily! As for WC, follow Becker guideline and you will be fine. I wrote whatever I can think of (sometimes does not even making sense) yet they still give me passing score for WC. I think it will unlikely they fail you on WC unless you are not trying hard enough (becker gave sample of what a failed WC look like). I don't even have time to take the final test on Becker and I managed to pass the exam ( I did feel I was failing my BEC test and that if I pass it was truly a miracle).

    AUD – 79 (4/15/2011)

    FAR – 79 (10/28/2011)

    BEC – 76 (11/28/2011)

    REG – ??? (1/20/2012)

I can't be sure that I failed the WCs, but I'm sure I didn't get enough points (no way to tell, because IL doesn't provide a report if you passed) and still passed.

I've tried to address the topics correctly (not really necessary), but my style is bad and vocabulary is poor. From what I've read here, all you need is correct grammar, good style, lots of relevant words and you'd be fine. The computer will pass you. My WCs were graded manually both of the times I took the test (my scores were in the subsequent releases).

@SDTrojan1904- That's odd. I got a 74 on REG and got Comparable on MC but weaker on Simulations. It's weird we got the same score. I guess our Simulation weakness was different. That's my guess. I do wish they'd put #s on the Performance Report like they used to.

Anyways, I got an 80 on BEC. Unfortunately I didn't get a Performance Report on that one because I passed. Passing candidates in NY don't get one. So, I don't know how I did. I would assume I'm Comparable.

Just a quick update on how I did just in case there are others who are awaiting BEC scores but bombed the WC:

MC: Comparable; consisted of 1 weaker area, 1 stronger area, and the rest were comparable

    WC: Weaker

    Score: 75!

Obviously I was one of those borderline candidates (CA) that were waiting on their scores. I got my score 6 days after the score release date (2/22/12) so if your BEC score is lagging, don't assume you failed!

how do you know that you got weaker in an area when you passed…I never receive anything other than a score…I thought you only got the breakdown if you didn't pass so you know what areas to improve on when you retest?

    Thanks..just wondering?
