Hhicd thanks i had a feeling bonds are pretty important..i'll keep trying questions and hope i am more comfortable-i have a week left. this section is so overwhelming i find myself questioning what made me decide to attempt for this to begin with! Right now i am loosing my mind going over the cash flow direct and indirect method with becker. It seems pretty straightforward but there is just so much to remember i feel like my brain is about to explode. Good luck all!

    HI Sonia,

Im going thru the same challenges as you are. The tough topics for me are anything Present Value related – bonds, lease etc…Statement of cash flows, Consolidations & Govt Accounting. I plan to hit these hard this weekend before exam and try to get 3 days to review everyhtring.

I took FAR today. Not surprisingly, I feel pretty on-the-fence about it. Could have been better, could have been worse. Nothing was surprising, although there were plenty of questions I was unsure of, which is frustrating. Its like I knew the topic but wasn't solid enough on it. I left a full 2 hours for the sim and took an hour and a half on it. Definitely give yourself plenty of time for the sims! I think I got the same MC question 3 times, which was strange. If I pass I will be done forever. Good luck everyone.

    Hi everyone,

Its a suggestion for those people who are going to give the FAR exam soon that don't under estimate/ignore the last two topics in FAR i.e F8 & F9 because I took the exam on Feb 18th & I got most of the questions from these two topics.

And I have a question regarding the Yeager's material that how much worth is it if I'll go for it? Because I used Becker for FAR and I didn't felt that they explained the topics well so I want to try Yeager's material for my next exam . Does anyone noticed that when they gave the exam they got most of the questions/models covered by Yeager or so?

Any suggestions would be appreciated and GOOD LUCK to everyone………..

@ veena Wow that stinks. I'll go over the flash cards and hw questions again

Some advice to everyone sitting for the beast. There's so much information that can be tested where you really need to just focus on the big ticket items and hope for the best on the minor topics. What I mean by that is, if you're using Becker… each chapter has one or two main topics… Know the “passing keys” or better yet the MNEMONICS from each chapter. Don't get too caught up in the detail… my experience with FAR is that detail isn't tested as much as broader concepts are. Don't worry too much about debits and credits and focus a little bit more on why thing are the way they are, whether it's the rule of conservatism or what depreciation method to use. I would also agree with many above… don't take F8/F9 lightly. In fact, study those two chapter's as if that's what you're only going to be tested on. Good luck.

@Herbieherb in my case I don't have the time to practice or revise the whole F1to F9 because my NTS expires on Feb 21st and my live classes end on Feb 12th and I am not sure if I pass or not. But what I absorbed is the questions were pretty easy & try to be familiar with the small topics as well(don't concentrate on important points only try to cover the whole topic at least once ) if you are using Becker. ALL THE BEST and I wish you pass the beast at one shot.

Okay asking for last minute advice here. Exam in 6 days and I am going over sims and the aicpa released ones in becker are scary! Trying not to get overwhelmed with those and just wondering for those who have taken FAR before and are taking it..what is your final crunch time strategy? What did everyone do in the final days to prepare their best for FAR. I plan on re-writing my notes ( a whole notebook worth!) do more questions in wiley software and take final exam in becker. Once again good luck everyone!

    Hi all,

I just rescheduled my Far exam to 2/28 from 2/24.

I am a little worried testing the last day of the window. Does any body know what happens if there is a Major snow storm on the 28th and Prometric is closed, will need to wait untill the next window,or do they make special accomidations allowing some candidates to test in March?

I just took FAR on Saturday. Going into it I felt very prepared, I put in a ton of time studying, as I'm sure everyone else on here has. But I could not believe how many government/non-profit questions I had. I would say that 25-30% of my exam was between those topics. I felt really good with my multiple choice questions, my 2nd and 3rd testlets were pretty hard so I am taking that as a good sign. But then I got to the sims. I had an 1hr 45 mins going into the sims and I didn't finish all of them. I used becker and spent a decent amount of time with their sims but I was totally blown away. I felt good about 4 of them, on the fence with 1, and the other 2 I had no chance.

Overall, it seems like the things that I really spent a lot of time trying to nail while studying didn't even come up, or I only got 1 or 2 questions. Anyway, my advice it just to try and stay focused and don't get stressed out during the MCQs, and try to save lots of energy for the sims because I though some of them were worded very oddly and I know that I was rattled by them.

    Best of luck to everyone!

FAR on 2/28. This is the beast. It's a mile wide and and inch deep. Have done the Yaeger minimum required questions 3 time and am now just focusing on the ones I got wrong. Going to spend the next 4 days reading notes, re-writing notes and mcq's. Don't know what to expect and not sure as to how I feel at this point (i.e. prepared or unprepared). I have a feeling I'm going to feel the same way once I'm done the exam.

Last minute question to those who have taken FAR this testing window. Would you recommend going through all the tabs once you get to the simulation section and doing the easier ones first and then the hardest? Im just concernecd because alot of peopple have mentioned that it takes a while to load and i dont want to kill time going through each tabs. Any strategy to handling the sims would be great too. Good luck to those taking FAR tomorrow.
