Hey guys, this is my 1st post so hang with me for a second.

A little of my background: graduated in 2010 with a BS in Accounting and a BS in Finance – w/ an emphasis in banking. I started work at an accounting firm straight out of college and planned to immediately study for the exam. Plans changed when I realized I didn’t have the self motivation to work 40+ hours per week and study, I was too busy thinking about fishing and my golf handicap. To simplify it, I was immature and was not willing to put in the time. I later left public accounting and went into the banking world as an consumer/commercial/agriculture lender. 8 years later, I am back at it. I have currently worked through the FAR section with Becker and am about to start the final review. My practice test scores are still in the high 60’s. Being 8 years removed from accounting has made this a lot tougher and the one thing that this review has taught me is that I don’t know JACK about accounting ( 🙂 ). This time around I have put in the time and I am still short of the mark. I have no thoughts of quitting, but I am wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me? FAR, to me, has been a beast. I spend majority of my days working MCQ after MCQ. I know that there are no “easy tips” to get through this other than to just stick it out and keep grinding. I am just starting to get a little discouraged after spending so much time and not getting the results that I hope for. Any tips or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Selfishly I am hoping that there are others of you in the same boat so that I can chat this up with y’all from time to time. Misery loves company, I guess. Thanks for all who gave this a read and best wishes on all of your studies. Hope tax season hasn’t taken a toll on you guys yet!!

The whole process can be discouraging, but I think you're in better shape than you realize. Check out the Becker practice test vs actual scores thread. The Becker bump is real. In the mean time, keep working through the MCQ and don't overlook sim practice too. Work the AICPA practice exam as you get closer to your test date.

In every one of my exams, I was pretty much discouraged up until a week or even a few days before the exam when things start to come together and I'll finally get this feeling like I'm ready. The problem is you're literally feeling overwhelmed and lost for 95% of the time you're studying so that part sucks. Just know that it will eventually come together as long as you put in the time and the effort. Good luck.

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 74, 79
    REG - 79
    FAR - 74, 81

Maybe I shouldn't have made my username "Club74"
