    Hello everyone,

    I just took FAR for the second time this past Friday, and here is my experience. Last time I took it in October, I literally watched the time expire as I was still working on a Simulation. On this retake, I probably only marked 3-4 questions per testlet, and even felt good about those.

    On the SIMS, I really think that I got the majority of them right. There were 2 SIMS I know I got 100% on (one being the research), and on the others, I think I got the majority of the points if not at least 50-60% of the points. I scored a 68 on my last take, and it was due to very low scores on NFP and Gov’t. On this test, I think I killed the NFP and Gov’t with the exception of 1 question that I know I got wrong.

    Has anyone else had a similar experience and passed? This is my last test if I pass and it will mean that I won’t have to worry about the 4/1/17 changes. Praying every day that I passed. If I failed, then I honestly don’t know what I could have done differently. I was not really surprised by any MC questions, and even though the SIMS were difficult, I still think they were doable and I did decent on them.

    I started this post a very long time ago, and every time I get an update and read the replies, I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. I just can't believe it takes this long to get a score back. I haven't been the same person since I started taking this exam, and it's hard telling if I ever will be.

    I have turned into a very edgy and stressful person. I don't know if its because of the schedule I put myself through, all of the sleep I lost out on, or all of the family and friend gatherings I have had to miss.

    All i know is, every day closer to the score release, I have to catch my breath. I have worked so hard to be where I am right now, and passing this test would mean the world to me. I gave everything I had, and have a lot on the line for this score release. I don't know if I have enough in me to take it again. I have one more chance (under the new format) to pass before my first test expires, and will have to wait until 8/14 for the score release. My REG score also expires 5/31/17.

    I pray every night that somehow I passed this exam….

    Good luck to all…

    @mjbey1s I feel you, 100%. I am full of doubt at this point. It would mean the world to me to see a passing grade on 2/7.

    I hate to admit it but, I never imagined I'd make it this far. (Passed 3, waiting for grade for test# 4). But I think that's because I WANTED it from the start, but I didn't truly know what it would take to finish.

    I run marathons. Each test is like a marathon– with NO rest in between race prep. You train, and train, and train… and on test day, you lay it all out. Give it everything you've got.

    It's painful and causes mad nervousness. But, just when you think you can't go any further (whether during training or on actual race day), you gotta dig through that self doubt. If you can dig deeper, you'll uncover some 100% pure, untapped energy you never knew you had. (So pure– like the glacier water in the black pouch, on Water Boy.)

    If we don't see those +75s on 2/7… Just double down, ramp up for another swing at FAR. (We'll be upset. No doubt. But we'll keep pushing. We're gonna slay that CPA dragon, no matter what!!) 🙂

    @SomethingTimeless,

    Thanks for the comment. Gave me chills just reading it. I know what you mean by uncovering that energy you didn't know you had.

    I started studying for this test and took and failed 7 tests back in 2013. I gave up at that point and said I wasn't smart enough to pass.

    Fast forward to fall of 2015, and I was back at it again. But this time, I had a confidence and drive I never had before. I passed REG and BEC on the first try, and took AUD three times (got two 73's and then an 83.)

    Never in my wildest dreams did i think I would be at this point either. I guess I never had enough faith in myself. But right now we are staring that license right in the eye. I have said it before, but this test is more of a test of discipline and character than it is a test of accounting knowledge. Sure, the geniuses will pass because of skill, but the majority of people have to put in time and effort that they didn't know existed in them.

    I actually found out in December. My back was to the wall on this final test. If I didn't pass I would start losing parts. So I took a long time to study (4+ months, which was all the time I had left before my first test expired), and I think that really paid off.
    I understand how this test makes you feel stressed and how it can make everything irritable. This test took me 2+ years, and I literally couldn’t relax, because any time I did the back of my mind reminded me that I should be studying.
    It’s an awful feeling to put in so much hard work in your free time to come up short on an exam, but wouldn’t it be worse to go through all of this and not get your license? – That was my motivation.
    I got 74s on two different tests…there was definitely part of me that wanted to say F it…..but in the end what would that have gotten me?
    Seriously good luck to you all – I felt your pain for 2+ yrs, and I will tell you that passing the test made it all worth it.
    Stay positive and stay focused, you got this!

    OP, it sounds like you are confident on the MC, and even the SIMS.

    I really think you passed. I was extremely confident on the MC as well but my SIMS were terrible. Still got an 81.

    You prepared well, congrats.

    Gave my FAR exam on the 8th Jan. I am pretty surprised with the exam not sure even if I would pass. I marked atleast 15-18 questions which I was not sure of. On simulations I’m pretty sure my research was right. 4 simulations would be about 80 percent right. 2 of them should be about 50 to 60 percent right. What do you think are my chances of passing. My paper went so horrible, I studied much more and didn’t expect the paper to get so bad. The first testlet was very easy. By the time 3rd testlet came it seemed impossible as the number of questions I flagged on the third one just increased.

    took FAR on 1/5. I was sick as a dog the 2 nights before and might have had 3 hours of sleep the 3 nights before due to some stomach thing. I had a 101 degree fever and felt horrible. It was too close to exam day to reschedule. I took a break between every testlet and spent 10 minutes in the bathroom.

    holy moly if I pass it will be a miracle.

    While I physically felt horrible, I felt “ok” about the material. Hopefully, I wasn't just delusional.

    This was a retake. I got a 62, 70, 72 and 73 the last time. I had passed all 3 of the others and then lost BEC, but took it again and re-passed that one. Now, I've lost REG with my 73 in November 2016. I have to pass REG before the end of Feb or I lose AUD.

    I have started studying again for REG.

    Praying for 75's for everyone.

    @Livealittle, bless your heart!

    So you’re waiting for your FAR result on Feb 7th? Do you know that if you passed that section, you could request your state board office (soon after you received your FAR passing score in Q1) for the reinstatement of your REG’s expired credit?

    I know someone from other state whose FAR credit was expiring in Q1 of 2016. He called the state board office and asked for extension of his grade for FAR in consideration for the recent death in the family. During such time, he had only 2 passes out of 4. The state board told him to put his request in writing attached by any document to support his hardship or extenuating circumstances. The state board advised him that they could only extend a grade until the END OF THE NEXT TEXTING WINDOW. With that said, he had to pass the rest of the two sections on or before the end of Q2 in 2016. He passed his 3rd section in Q1 at the same time his FAR credit already expired. He used the entire Q2 (till the extended date 6/10/2016) to prepare for his last section. He passed and immediately sent his compelling request along with the supporting documents. In a span of 2-3 weeks, he received his congratulatory letter in the mail.

    Our state board here in KY also extends a grade. I knew it because I inquired them over the phone and in writing. I myself had my AUD and FAR grades expired in 2015. However, since I passed my 4th section after more than one testing window (6 and 4 quarters later), my request was denied. Here’s a quote from our Executive Director:

    Staff is allowed to grant one extension of a grade without having to obtain board approval however the request must come from the exam candidate and the extension is only good until the end of the next testing window. In your case you did not request an extension of your grades until a year or more after they expired.
