    Hi everyone,
I am starting FAR this week, and I’m wondering how you take notes for FAR? For the other exams, I would annotate the Becker textbook while watching videos. Unfortunately, my textbook has expired so the videos and book dont line up.

Should I get a new book? Should I just annotate the chapter summaries? Should I just take my own notes? If so, handwrite or dont handwrite? I also have Ninja.

What should I do?? Im already overwhelmed!!

    TIA 🙂

I took notes from the textbook on Beckers site. I had the book open on one monitor and microsoft word open on another. I would just go through and take notes. If you like watching the videos while you take notes and also use the physical book, then I recommend you buy new books. I remember that they were not that expensive maybe $40?

I didn't use Becker but I used Roger and he does a great job of stressing whats important in each chapter using bold words/sentences. If Becker is the same, structure your notes around that. If not, use the Ninja notes as a reference and construct your notes based off Becker material and Ninja notes.

I usually skipped lectures and just read the book & took my own notes. I found the lectures to be way too quick, and it didn't allow me enough time to digest the information.

I watched each Wiley lecture and took notes in a OneNote (similar to Word) file. I literally never went back and looked at those notes though. Just typing them out while watching the lesson helped me absorb the lesson better. It seems like an overwhelming amount of content at the start but it will come together once you review. Remember, FAR is a mile wide and only an inch deep. Most the lectures go way too in depth on the content.

Feeling overwhelmed on FAR is completely normal.
Happens to everyone. Just keep plugging away.

If the notes in the book method has worked well for you on other tests I am a proponent of “don't fix whats not broken” so I say order a new book and keep doing what has worked for you.

Thank you everyone! I'm gonna give handwriting notes a chance–if that feels too unproductive, I will order the new book.

A new book from becker is only like $25. that said, I just highlight the online text now and it works just as well for me as handwriting notes. I know that's against the grain for the Ninja method.
