If you had to choose three “must know” topics to try and master for FAR before test day (excluding: bonds, NFP/Govt, leases and pensions) what would they be? FAR is my first exam coming up at the end of Feb and I’m getting pretty nervous. Just want to know what your advice would be in terms of last minute cramming- what subjects to emphasize. Thanks a lot!

    1. Governmental and NFPs (aim for perfection. Once you practice, these are easy points).

    2. Bonds in depth

    3. Basics of Inventory valuation

    4. All the left-field topics that people never talk about

    CPA - Since 2015
    CISA - Smashed 2012
    CIA - Passed 2015

Outside of the topics you listed i'd focus on: Taxes, statement of Cash flows, inventory and goodwill.

I pulled these from my personal list of review topics. I try to keep a list of topics I need to go over in order of most struggle to least struggle.

In overall review i'd probably go over journal entries, various methods and IFRS vs. GAAP

If you have the excluded topics down i'd say you're in pretty good shape.

    AUD - 65, 89!
    REG - 70, 89!
    FAR - 78!
    BEC - 77!

Remember that EVERYTHING is fair game so I wouldn't plan on focusing on just a few topics. Know the basics and you will figure out the advanced.

I'm with Kricket, it's all fair game. Remember, as multiple people have said here, FAR is like a body of water that is a mile-wide and an inch deep. Know the basics and don't get hung in the minutiae.

Yeah, there are no selected important topics because they are all important. I just know from REG, all of the “smaller” topics were the ones I had the LONG drawn out SIMS for… rude. I wish they'd do SIMS on stuff that is important and not a random topic that is barely used in real life.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I noticed several edited by moderator questions but they are all pretty darn straight forward if you briefly review it.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75
