    Brutal.

This was my 2nd attempt, after failing pretty bad back in Dec.
    T1- Medium
    T2- Hard
T3- Medium/Easy (so that probably means I didn’t do so well in T2)

(I will say I feel like NINJA MCQ prepared me well for the MCQs though.)

The sims were so much harder than I’d experienced in Dec though. Even the research question… and I usually nail those (I consider myself a black belt when it comes to finding/researching info).

However, the other 6 sims, really difficult computation and complexities. I’m seriously worried. I have until August to pass this one and REG (I start studying for REG now, and take it in 2 weeks). I was trending 74% with NINJA going into this, which I know isn’t ideally high, however I’m hoping I don’t have to find out what it’s like to take FAR in Q2.

Anyone have a horrible experience and end up strong?

… Gosh I hope the CPA Gods are in my favor this quarter!

@jereumie, thank you. I think I might try something similar with AUD next. With FAR, I feel like I've dragged it out too long. First I have to pass FAR though!

I had a classmate who took two exams back to back on a Saturday and went back two weeks later to take the other two. This was in October of his 7th semester of school, and he passed all four. Granted he was super-smart and 100% focused on academics (i.e. absolutely no social life), but dayummm!

I don't know about you guys but FAR seems like so much material I am not sure how any brain is supposed to process it all and go into the exam knowing everything. Just worked NINJA consolidations questions and there is only 17 and took me almost 2 mins each. Every single one was some computation with parent/sub balance sheets displayed. Please please tell me s*&* like this doesn't show up on exams. Seems ridic.

That sh*t does not show up on the exam. I got a SIM on that topic, which I skipped because it would've taken an hour to do and the format was so warped-looking that I would've needed about 6 sheets of paper to map it all out and do it (nightmare of Advanced Accounting revisited.)

I don't know if you have taken FAR before or if this is your first (and hopefully your only) try on it, but the calculations on the MCQ are very light. I posted above that out of 90 MCQ, only 25 (if that) had computations and they were quick and easy ones. Those are the ones I *think* I did well on, when I took FAR.

@cruzer – I was in the same boat. Felt like it would take me at a minimum 2 minutes a piece while I was studying (for anything that had computations). I will say that all those complexities in the problems and detail that NINJA MCQ has you work through definitely prepares you for what will come your way on exam day, whether that means a detailed question, or more high level.

nasty….that is one word to describe studying for FAR. It is so much material the examiners could really hit you at any point. Tomorrow will be filled with govt and NFP to finish out all MCQ's 1st time thru. Been doing 20 “missed from last time” questions each day since 2/15 so I can retain all this info. It has not been easy lets just say. I will be glad when it is all over and I never have to study for this big of an exam again. How does everyone else feel going into the weekend who is taking the test in the last week before the new quarter?

Best wishes to all of you who are doing FAR next week….the last week of the old format. In thinking about it some more, in the past 2 months since I took FAR, I am glad about the new format with 1 more SIM and 18 less MCQ. I think it'll be good for me personally – although who knows, I might eventually eat those words. But, I'm glad I just have to go back and review the stuff and not start from scratch. Looking back on it, everyone who has studied for and passed FAR (I refer only to those whom it actually took some serious studying and effort to pass) will realize that they really came a long ways and accomplished something significant. It's the one that most people have the most trouble with!!

5 days before the exam and I am still contemplating whether or not to reschedule. I actually love studying for FAR because more than 75% of the material is relevant and applicable to my current job, not directly to what I do, but to the department overall (except for GOV & NFP material).

I think if I had another 2-3 weeks to study (from today) I would have a pretty good chance of passing FAR on the first try, so I don't know which one is the least of the two evils – taking and failing or taking and waiting for 10-weeks not knowing whether or not I passed or failed.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

I'm taking FAR on Monday. I'm not ready. I took my one and only practice test yesterday and scored a 70% overall with a 50% on one testlet. I don't get governmental accounting and find it to be pretty lame. My NTS expires in March, so I have no choice but to take FAR on Monday. This probably should have been my best section, but I don't think my test score will reflect that now.

Things I would have done differently: planned less time between sections. I gave myself too much time to allow for laziness. I ended up getting behind and now I need to review too much from early on. I think I would have given myself a few days-week break somewhere in the middle of studying. FAR is just too big and I have gotten so mentally drained.

Praying for a 75 on Monday!!

    AUD - 77
    BEC - 85
    FAR - 84

Took FAR on Feb 27. I ended up trending 87% on ninja mcqs. Still, I felt like it could go either way as I walked out of the test center. You guys are giving me hope that maybe my fear of bombing the exam may be overblown in my own head.

I'll know either way on the 8th! Good luck everyone!
