I am sitting for FAR this weekend, 5/12. I have seen a lot of people suggest that GOV & NFP is hit pretty hard in the exam. I have a general grasp on the topics but I am wondering if anyone has some insight on to which topics are most important in this area? I am curious on whether it is conceptual questions as in: What fund would account for the construction of a building? Or is it math intensive like: Calculate the net position after blah blah blah?

I know that it is a crap shot on what each candidate may get on any test but I am wondering if there is any sort of correlation in this topic area.

    Thanks for any information!

    AUD - 99

    BEC - 6/8/18

    FAR - 5/12/18

    REG - 86

GOV and NFP are tested at a very simple conceptual level according to the AICPA blueprints which means they are NOT calculation intensive (remembering and understanding as well as application).

GOV/NFP are gimmes on the exam if you know the concepts and theories so make sure you study them well because they are easy points.

I suggest taking a look at the blueprints before sitting for the exam.

If you do get a GOV/NFP TBS it probably won't count towards your score because GOV/NFP don't have anything at the analysis or evaluation level in the blueprints.

By the way, you got a 99 on AUD?

Do you have any study methods or advice you can share regarding AUD?

    Half my exam was Gov/NFP

never listen to people who tell you things probably wont count or be tested..Roger CPA said in the review course I paid for all the things I wwas tested on were rarely tested..I got slammed on my first FAR take with M&A, Consildations, Partnership, Treasury method, Derivatives, FXC etc…

The second attempt it was half Gov and NFP..

So if you try to game the test you will probably fail, know everything and know it well.

FAR is much harder then AUD, Aud is fairly easy atleast mine was.

You have to know and understand government and NFP at a conceptual level, like everyone else said, they say it's only 5-15% of your test, but to a lot of people, me included, it felt like the entire test was NFP and government, especially on my first take of FAR. And yes-know it, and know it well. TBS are unlikely but MCQ is going to include it for sure!

Gov and NFP are each between 5% and 15%, so if it's about 1/4 of the test cumulatively and they won't be tested as SIMs, that means you should expect a fair number of MCQs on them.
