1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

    Hang in there everyone~

Very impressed with Gleim TB so far. MCQs are thought-provoking and has diagnostics of your “first-time correct” answers (I'm such a sucker when I see performance graphs/bars). Will dive into SIMs soon to find out if I do get whooped harder than the actual exam.

FAR - 65 (Planned rematch on Apr/May 2018 'cuz CalBOA is turtle slow)
    AUD - 2/10/18 (Roger MCQ/TBS, 5 weeks prep) - Pending...
    REG - TBD

Hi gang, I am definitely nervous. I am working on notes and audio while doing taxes. I feel so silly trying to do mcq's, because I get so many wrong.

@Tncincy, Hey, I think Roger's videos are there on youtube regarding Bonds and Leases and he did good job teaching them.

    @J
King, did you use only Roger for the FAR? or did you Supplement it with any?

@sona, on my first FAR, yeah I only used Roger. Failed because underprepared.

Retaking it again in 2 months or so, and just got Gleim TB. MCQs are pretty tricky.

I watched the AICPA Webinar on the CPA Exam, and they mentioned that analysis marked categories in the blueprint are guaranteed to be a potential SIM question while Application marked boxes can be either MCQ or SIM questions

@anyatver, nope! I still think you'll be done!

@mskcle, that's helpful! Thanks for sharing. I wasn't able to watch the seminar.

No problem! At first they made it sound like we only needed to know analysis but then I asked and they clarified it up a bit. Still felt mislead as they said whatever the blueprints have as % should be accurate, but feedback seems to say otherwise as some candidates claim to have a lot of a certain area.

If a SIM says AICPA adapted in Becker does that mean it was a former CPA question?

@mskcle-I am assuming that to be true. Becker SIMS are very similar to the real thing, just not nearly as hard:). I wish there were less of them but they were closer to the test in degree of difficulty. The first time I studied for FAR, and tried to read the blueprints, I felt scared and overwhelmed, but the second time, it was almost like my checklist of things I should know how to do:) If you are cognizant of the application and analysis topics, it becomes very clear when you are doing Becker SIMS what it is you are trying to get at. Yeah, those %s are a crock of poop:) LOL!

For those who have taken the exam, do you think it matters the order of your journal entries for SIMS? For example the CAR IN BIG journal entry

    BEC - 87
    FAR - 86
    REG - 88

Hey everyone – I just wanted to check in. I took my Becker mock exam 1 for FAR yesterday, and I got a 80%..surprisingly, I did better on the SIMs than the MCQs. I felt that these mock SIMs were easier than I expected. On the other hand, the MCQs were a lot more difficult.

My exam is in 11 days! Let's finish strong.

@Big4BeanCounter-the SIMS in Becker Mock exams are definitely easier, but if you focus on the SIMS having to do with areas that have “analysis” and application near it, you will be fine. I would focus on JEs-the Skills Practices were great for that at the end.
@mskcle-I know you want your debits to be first, not sure if the entry matters otherwise. I think if you were to stick to Becker formatting you should be fine!

@anyatver – as always, I appreciate your thoughtful suggestions and tips! For Skills Practices that deal with JEs, which ones are you specifically referring to?
