Can someone explain the ‘blueprint’ that keeps being referenced in the forum?

@Sir Plus, nope not DRS, a SIM, of any kind. I have now had the “pleasure” of taking FAR twice and can say that the topics marked as “Analysis” will most definitely be presented in a SIMS format. Therefore to answer the original poster's question, for those broad areas-know everything you can possibly know-conceptually, journal entries, statements, how to read them, how to prepare them, A to Z. Focus on the SIMS in your review course that correspond to those topics, and you will be better prepared.

Does it help to relieve the imagined tension if I admit that I was probably wrong about the blueprints and have learned something?

OMG @JEff! Yes! If you admit it-it's official-it works! 🙂 Thank you for the Ninja products. I am cautiously optimistic for this re-take, cautiously is the operative word.

Haha. Yes, Jeff it does. It's official now. Thanks for creating this forum community and Ninja MCQ products.

By reading the blueprints, it would be fair to assume no SIMS should come from pensions, govt/nfp, or IFRS?

    BEC - 87
    FAR - 86
    REG - 88

I would say yes for pensions and govt/nfp based on the blueprints. I wouldn't discount IFRS because other areas are covered by IFRS as well as GAAP.

    @mskcle

Anything with a box checked next to remembering/understanding and application can be a MCQ. You should not see a SIM for this. If you do, its probably a pre-test.

Anything with a box checked next to remembering/understanding, application, analysis, and evaluation (audit only), can be a MCQ or a SIM.

So if you want to be smart about your time, know the stuff that has all the boxes checked REALLY WELL. You just need to know the other stuff in order to solve a MCQ.

LOL, if Jeff admits it then it MUST be true.
I did not focus solely on the blueprints/analysis boxes, but I would be lying if I said I did not read the blueprints over, multiple times before each test.
Knowledge is power, and I'll take any advantage I can get.

Glad to see you are still sticking around Lentil.

It’s not that I didn’t believe your testimonies. But I doubted myself how am I going to adapt to this controversial AICPA blueprint?

For that reason, I signed up in a webinar to which I already forgot until an AICPA email popped up in my inbox this morning.

See guys if you also can attend.

AICPA is going to be my post-valentine’s date, LOL.

I was debating signing up for it, and maybe I should, in case my efforts didn't pay off yesterday:) LOL

@lentil, Thanks I hope I pass this time. I'm starting my two weeks of review today. My plan is to do MCQs on problem areas, and to do sims based on the blueprints. I'm using the list that you and Ana created in the previous post you created.

@turo-if you are using Becker-I found doing the Skills Practices in the few days leading up to the test extremely beneficial as well….

@anyatver, thanks. I'll try that. I have just been skipping the skills practices.

@ turo-I found them useless the first time around, but they were so helpful this Sunday before the test, lots of journal entries in bite-size pieces and explanations to go with them in case I wasn't sure. I think it helped to make me feel better. LOL
