FAR sucks—took FAR today April 27

What can I say or describe this feeling? From the first question of MCQ it seems doomed. The first 5 questions were wish-washy, I started marking flags and guessing. Then at the 2nd testlet, I had 6-7 MCQs in which I have no effing idea. So I randomly guessed

I randomly guessed as I’m not sure I have enough time.

I didn’t have enough time for review. My class group assignment kicked in, and these stupid assignments took a lot of time from me for review. I only reviewed 7 out of 20 Gleim chapters. One and half week after I did 73 in Gleim rehearsal, and my memory on the chapters I learned proved not to be so reliable.

I skipped one research question, totally had no clue, somewhat looked like R&D expense. I only had 1 hour 20 min left for testlet 5. I also suffered from the expense/capitalization question, as there was a SIM with a huge table on adjusting income statement items. There are some items where I had no clue to adjust or not and my mind says “screw it just give up” and I clicked “0” “0” “0” and moved on.

I skipped the scheduled break. My mind wasn’t right to take a break.

Screw it, I really want to give up rest of CPA at this point. What’s the point to continue on if I fail FAR? I need a drink.

Thanks guys for helping me with FAR questions. If I don’t see you all again, good luck on your CPA journeys. Peace out.

@nalratoss sorry to hear about the discouraging test experience. I think we're all kinda worrying about this new system so to speak, but hey take a day or two or three off, reevaluate why you want to be a CPA. Hey, all is not lost, pull those books out and go at it.

I know this feel. This will be my third time taking FAR coming up this Saturday. I feel defeated. Won't know the result until August and by that time I'll lose two passing exams of BEC and REG.
Come August and I'm sure I'll fail, I'm done. I can't do this. Not smart enough.

@nalratoss ,don't give up , you may go through this forum and can see yourself how people got depressed and frustrated after exam ( for some it was BEC and for few it was FAR or REG ) and they got not only surprised but passed CPA too.Stay cool and take a break anyway before 18th August , you can appear again and still pass as if you never failed.

I have said it here before, but I would have been less surprised to see a score of 50 than I was to se my actual score of 84. Don't lose hope. I think we talk ourselves into believing that we are guessing but in reality we are figuring things out.

You said it yourself, you didn't have enough time for review…. The CPA exam is not a high school test where you can just show up and guess. You have to put in the time.

If you're that sure that you won't pass, you should spend the next three months studying because you know you're taking it again.

Got home like an hour ago. Made steak-um fajitas and have some poppyseed cake for dessert. Why am I talking about food? Because I don't want to think about the CPA anymore. Sure I'll have to think about it come August test results, but right now whether I passed or failed, I really don't care.

Sorry man. I should explain better now that I am calmer. I'll do my best without revealing the secrets! Lot of stuff I studied was not on the exam. Like maybe one or two mcq questions on government, nothing else. That of course helps no one, but I am curious on how the new test bank is working, because let us call that 1% of the questions on government. Now trading securities/available for sale, a total crap load. More questions there than government, probably 6% of total mcq. Obviously your mileage will vary. The rest of the topics were pretty varied. I think they are giving themselves more flexibility on test design. I think the second test bank was a little easier, so probably not a good sign, but it took me a lot of time to get through mcq. Lot of long questions. Close to 2hrs on mcq.

Like half of my sims required journal entries. One research, which I got, took like 13 min to find. I thought the subject matter was well explained on where to look. They did everything in their power not to say the word contract, which was obviously a key search word. One sim on those change the sentence things. Like four that had lots of supplemental material. Took a lot of time and I used every last minute. I wish the sims were all in one test bank, which would make it much easier to manage time.

Not sure what else I can say. I don't know how I would have changed my studying because the question pool is so large.
Only link I can give that has been posted here before is study some journal entries.

Good luck to all. See you in August.
