    Hi All,

Happy Sunday. I’m going to begin studying for FAR which is my final exam tomorrow and plan to sit in Q3. I was hoping I could get some help or insight on when to schedule my exam or study time needed. This is going to be my first attempt at FAR and with the vast amount of material, I’m assuming it’s going to take me a little while more to truly learn and go through it. I normally study 2 chapters a week in Becker and leave 2 weeks for self review. The Becker FAR textbook has 10 chapters so I was thinking about 2 months from tomorrow to book my exam. However, 1.5 weeks this next quarter I’m going to have a family trip and my cousins wedding. Ultimately, I have 9 months till expiration of my first pass being BEC and hopefully that won’t become an issue. Should I just book the end of the quarter being September 10th which leaves me with additional time to review and really try to learn / understand or is this a bad idea because I might take too long and forget earlier chapters?

Thanks so much for any advice!

First, congrats on passing 3 exams! For FAR, please make sure you set aside at least an hour + to review what you've covered. It's so much material and you'll forget calculations and details. A weekly progress test should suffice! Good luck:)

Thank you so much, I appreciate it! A weekly progress test of like 20-30 questions on the chapters I’ve covered already will suffice? I’m wondering if I should stick to my 2 chapters a week or just slow it down and take it end of quarter.

End of the quarter is probably a safe bet.

    You're welcome.
Full disclosure, I was going to say 10 weeks max. Which is what Jeff told me when I started.
But then you have to allow the extra 1.5 weeks of interrupted study time.
As long as you keep hitting those cumulatives, and you allow a full 2 weeks for final review, I think you should be in the comfort zone targeting to test by Sept 10th.
I might go a week early just in case there is some natural disaster right before the window closes. Always have a backup plan.

I planned my exam for the very last day of the testing window. My goal was to get my score back as soon as possible to minimize any downtime in between the exam if I had failed it the first time.

I would recommend scheduling your exam according to the score release date. Like how they say, exams received between September 1 and September 10 have target score release date of September 20th. I purposefully scheduled my exam for September 10th so I didn't have to torture myself longer than I had to in wondering if I passed it or not.

Thank God I passed it. Each one of these exams has made me a nervous wreck.

    Good luck to you,
