    NINJA Question –

Wondering how y’all feel about flashcards. I have been re-writing Becker flashcards as part of my REG review. It is very time consuming though and I’m not sure if maybe I’m better off just looking at them on my cellphone through the app or just doing something else entirely. Definitely don’t want to sink HOURS into this if it’s not really going to help much…..advice welcome!

Let me add that I failed REG with a 68 in February and am planning a re-take for April 9th.

It depends. It may be time consuming, but for some people by writing the info on flash cards, subconsciously it sticks in their head.

I personally thought the Becker flashcards were a waste of time and $. I would use them every once in a while while on my phone while at my kids sports events, but i found it more useful to just create my own.

    FAR 7/8/14 - 88 - Becker live course
REG 10/14/14 - 82 - Becker live course, Ninja notes and audio
BEC 11/25/14 - 88 - Becker live course, Ninja audio, Wiley book for extra questions
AUD 2/3/15 - 94 - Becker self study, Ninja audio, Wiley book for extra questions

The answer you dont want to hear – its really a case by case basis.

I personally do not think i would have passed the CPA with out the becker flashcards. When i first started taking these exams i made my own flash cards, failed FAR twice, then invested in becker flashcards for all 4 sections and passed all four in a row. Some people don't find them useful and some people like myself owe their CPA to them. Just depends on how you learn.

Everyone is different. Flashcards don't do it for me. I wish the did, because I don't mind them. I hate MCQ's…and getting through all of them is the only way I can pass. Go figure.

The NINJA Flashcards were very helpful for REG..

Didn't touch them (got them for free from my firm), passed all four on the first try. I never have used flashcards for any subject, however, so I could be an outlier. They just don't do anything for me and I personally only learn through application (i.e. solving MCQs/SIMs)

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 76 (phew)
    BEC - 88
    REG - 77

    DONE!

Thanks for the input everyone! Yeah…it is totally a case-by-case basis. With three weeks until my exam (the plan as of now) I just want to make sure I'm maximizing my time and study materials.

For what it's worth, wrote out and used the Ninja flashcards for FAR, BEC & REG. There were at least 3 or 4 questions on each of those exams in which I was able to pick out the answer by recalling info I had memorized from those things.

The flashcards were good on the iPhone when I'm standing in line for something and would brush up for a few minutes. Other than that my go to was the notes and actual book.

    BEC - 12/13
    FAR - 5/14
    AUD - 8/14
    REG - 2/15
Passed 6 of 6 CLEP Exam

I don't think I can buy ANOTHER ninja item. I already have the notes, book, audio, and MCQ for REG. I'm a little burnt out from spending so much money on materials. I do occasionally use the flash cards on my phone also.

The flash cards are used for repetition,so you can test yourself on concepts over, and over, over. If anyone is implying that repetition does not work as a study tool to memorize (not understand) certain concepts, then you are saying that the science behind it is incorrect. I think it has been proven for many years that repetition does work. I wouldn't rely on it for Audit.

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?
