I have been using Wiley with Ninja as a supplemnet. I made a 74 on REG and lost my AUD credit. I am looking at purchasing Gleim for these 2 sections. As anyone used them and done well? I am worried that I have been through the wiley bank now 3 times.

I actually have Wiley as my main review course and have Gleim's test bank as a supplement. I think Gleim's test bank helped me tremendously on BEC. The questions are much harder, but the explanations for the answers are so much better than Wiley. I also purchased the hard copy of the questions for Gleim's test bank which included outlines for each sections. The outlines explained some concepts better than Wiley (at least the concepts that I struggled with). I would say you should be okay with just purchasing the test bank for those sections and pay the extra $16 for shipping the hard copies so that you get the outlines, as well.

@JSuzanne How did you purchase just the test bank? I am showing $300 for each section is that right or am I missing something?

It may be $300 now per section but I paid $250 each section in the past. I wasn't aware they raised the price. I use them to study with.

Gleim helped improve my multiple choice skills in Audit but I didn't spend enough time on the simulations and it showed on my exam. Did well on the MCs but failed because of the SIMS. =(

I like Gleim. It's like a harder version of Ninja so it's great to supplement with.

@lfranc8 I called and got a really good discount. I paid $667 for all 4 test banks and the books (included taxes and shipping). Here's the rep that I used. Dan Reid dan.reid@gleim.com 800-874-5346 ext 427. The reps like referrals, so let him know you were referred. He may can give you the 2 sections that you need for half price.

@jSuzanne I've always heard that Gleim and Wiley use the same testbank questions. Sounds like there's a difference based on your comment. I may need to try Gleim for FAR if I don't pass.

@PDiddy2000 yep, there's definitely a difference. I would estimate about 5-10% of the questions were the same. I noticed the questions that were the same were all questions from the AICPA's previously released questions. I would definitely give Gleim's test bank a try if you don't pass FAR. I will say I've only used it for BEC so far (using it for AUD next), but I'm sure it will be just as helpful for FAR.

Thank you. I hope I pass but if not, I will definitely purchase Gleim and tell them you referred me.

I used GLEIM only and passed all 4 on first try. I will say GLEIM is definitely much harder for REG and on par for AUD. I definitely recommend it. I went with GLEIM because others I know passed all exams on first try too. Also, the price point is on the more affordable side. Good luck!

@bigstakk could you please share more of what you did to use GLEIM successfully? Like how did you progress in your studies using it? (Any other GLEIM-users — please share your successful strategies in using GLEIM as well.) I have it and am having a hard time with progressing through the course, specifically while following the SmartAdapt prompts. Did you use their SmartAdapt system strictly in your use of GLEIM?

For REG and BEC I followed all of the adaptive learning prompts for the most part. For REG I regrettably did not do all of the SIMs and I ended up scoring less than average on the SIMs during the actual exam, but I crushed the MCQs to salvage my score. For BEC, I literally did every single thing for the adaptive learning prompts and did all of the MCQs and SIMs for every chapter, which I think is the reason why I scored the highest on this exam. For AUD, I went through the entire material, but did not do all of the prompts particularly for the final review due to time constraints and comfort with the material. For FAR, I somewhat winged it and skipped a few chapters that I had prior extensive knowledge with (like Consolidations, Equity Method, Derivative Instruments, etc). Overall, I will say if you literally follow every adaptive prompt and do every MCQ and SIM you will pass each exam. For some topics I googled the topic to get a better understanding since in some cases I felt that GLEIM assumed you had prior baseline knowledge, which was the case for AUD and FAR, but not so much with REG in particular. I only took 1-2 tax classes in my life and that was over a decade ago. So Google can be your friend if something is not making sense to you, but I only had to do this with REG and particularly the BLaw stuff.
    Good luck!
