The New Jersey State Board of Accountancy voted to extend the date to June 30, 2018, for those CPA candidates who unsuccessfully took the exam and were scheduled to lose parts of their CPA exam at the end of Q2, Q3 and Q4 of the 2017 testing periods.

this should be a uniform decision by all states

    Trust the Process

    FAR - 83 Wiley
    BEC - 68 Wiley, 74 (Wiley & NINJA), 79 (Wiley, NINJA, & Becker SIMS)
    AUD - 72 Wiley, 77 (Wiley & NINJA)
    REG - 88 Wiley & NINJA

Definitely good news, and I appreciate the acknowledgement that the waits do affect people. However, I almost wish if they were going to do this, it was a 3 month extension for anyone who was on the clock as of Q2 2017. I may not be at my last exam or have them expiring in 2017, but I still lost 3 months waiting for a score (as did we all) and still lost one testing window due to it. But since my scores aren't expiring in 2017, my date is the same expiration in 2018 as it always was, so this news is of no benefit to me. Fingers crossed I can get this done before an expiration time period regardless, but I wish it was for all candidates on the clock.

    @ Kimberly

That seems a little unreasonable. Candidates who weren't waiting on the last exam could of studied and taken another part within that 3 month waiting time frame.

@kdawg22 – Understand what you are saying; and do think their decision is generous, much more than other states. My only point – I missed a window to retake the exam I failed in Q2 that I didn't know I had failed. If not for the 3 month delay, I would have retaken that exam the next quarter, as normally someone could in a normal year. I did in fact study/take another part in Q3, but once I got my failing Q2 score, there was no time and no open spots to take that prior failed test. That's my only point.

@jamalpody did you receive a letter or an email from someone at the NJ state board stating the June 2018 extension?

lost Bec due to this in California, they don't give a #@!#. it should be a universal decision. so unfair

@kdcpa I don't think we have any hope. just makes no sense. what aggravates me the most is that their response is “no one was prevented from taking an exam.” I don't now why to choose to have blinders on. Candidates were prevented and those like me with only one test had no others to study for. I'd take it a bit better if they were just honest and say we don't care, or life isn't fair, or move to NJ. Instead they responses are insulting and puts salt in a wound.

@Champ, if you google New jersey extension CPA 2018 june or something along those lines it actually give you the result you want on their actual state board website. I was able to find it (too lazy to paste the link as I have to re-google again LOL). But I agree with Ana this should be a universal thing for all 50 States in the USA! How is that fair? Now I don't mean to whine or anything and yes life is unfair but if the AICPA wanna be transparent and fair can they at least have other states implement something.. I guess I'm a little salty given that I only have 1 section left and 1 expiring if I fail.. that's why an extension would be a huge relief. Oh well! Can I move to New jersey?? LMAO. would that work?

@Ana, good luck on FAR!! hope we can knock those out.. if I end up failing, I hope to see you in BEC thread! I find your explanations to be really helpful. But on the bright side, if we have passed it once we can do it again. Def. not underestimating it with the new SIMS tho.

Certainly a great news for NJ candidates. Honestly, I thought someone joked around, but I was wrong. It is real https://njcpa.org/stay-informed/topics/article/2017/10/10/new-jersey-state-board-extends-cpa-candidate-testing-window-to-june-30-2018

I found this news to be extremely unfair to any other candidate. I had so many health problems that I was not able to even think about taking any exams. My board extended for me NTS, but nothing else. Q4 is my last testing window before loosing FAR and REG.

In my opinion, we all should be under the 18 months window or all of us should be granted any extension given. Each of us waited for the scores after Q2. I am able to understand small differences between states. However, I am not able to understand that one state extends the CPA exams for ONE year! Is there any petition we can sign?
