Has this happened to you?

Hello all – Today was the first time I sat for a CPA exam (AUD). The MCQs went pretty well and I was happy that I am seeing light. But I crash landed so bad with simulations. This has actually gotten me worried that I may even fail scoring 70-75 points (sucks, I know!). Has such a situation happened to anyone around that has actually got you through 75? I know it can’t be the same with everyone and it actually depends on how well/bad you have done your simulations. But just want to keep myself away from getting too worried for all the efforts I put and move on to study for the next exam on Feb 25 (BEC).

Please don't start worrying. You have a long wait until score release. I will give you a bit of hope: I sailed through the AUD MCQs in about 30 minutes, got to the SIMs and, while I didn't think they were complicated or unfair or anything, I thought they were incredibly vague and I had no idea what they were even asking me sometimes. When score release day came, I was so nervous, it caused me to get physically sick. I kept checking the NASBA site, but I would hold my hand over the screen so I could slowly pull it away….yeah, I got a 91. After that, I said I'm never getting that worked up over anything ever again. There is no reason to worry. These people that take the Becker practice exams and start applying weights to the scores, it's pointless. Go in, do your best, and let the chips fall where they may. If you prepared like you should have, you have a high chance of passing. I look around at the people I graduated with who are going through this exam, and I say to myself, if they can pass, I know for an absolute fact I can pass. Being that this is the first time you've sat for an exam, you have nothing to base your feelings on. My first exam was BEC and I felt really good about it, but I'd read so many stories about people ‘feeling good about it' then coming to find out they failed miserably, so I convinced myself I failed. Got an 88. Moral of the story…occupy the next month of your life with something else as much as you can. The test is over now, nothing you can do. That's my advice!

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

Hi there I took AUD on Saturday and I had a similar experience. (This is my first CPA exam so I really had no idea what to expect other than by reading other peoples' experiences and taking practice exams) … The MCQ's were ok for testlet 1, harder for testlet 2, and about the same for the third. I had a few hours left when I got to the SIMs. I was used to the CPAexcel sims which are easy, straightforward, and use the authoritative literature.

Let me tell you, I have no idea where these sims came from. Well, one came from FAR lol 🙂 but the others …. ? I had no idea … and I have no idea how I will do on the exam. It's nice to know that I wasn't the only one who felt this way 🙂

I'm praying hard for our 75's!!
