    Hello everyone,

I want to sit for FAR at the end of February. I am using Wiley to study and am moving very slow through the units. At the current rate I am moving through the review program there is no way I will be ready for the exam in two months. From what I have read that should be enough time to study and pass this exam. Has anyone used Wiley to pass and if so do I really need to complete every unit and should it be taking me this long? Any advice is much appreciated!

    Hi Confused,

I passed FAR on my second attempt using Wiley and Ninja Audio. As it was my first exam I tried to use most of the online materials, videos, study text, questions, slides, proficiency questions. But…

First thing I would ditch are the videos, when studying it seemed my attention would go to the videos and then when I got to the slides and questions my focus had already degraded, and videos can take 5 minutes when the slides can be 1 minute or however long based on if you already know.

If I had to do it all over again from the start I would listen through Ninja Audio as much as you can stand, Jeff can be humorous at times so they are actually pretty good and hit at what matter. At the same time work through CPA excel, study the slides, take the exam questions and tasked based simulations for each section. Make notes, I would listen to Ninja audio and take notes in a word doc, print them out and then write in more notes as you study.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the MCQ's in study mode so that you can see the answer right away instead of waiting until you finish 10+ questions and then feel like you have to do them aaaaaall over again just to see what you got wrong.

Once your finished all the material with slides and questions start doing study mode questions in the test bank and TBS's.

Coming from someone who has failed AUD 3 times and I have a basic understanding for Audit now Ive actually read through each sections Wiley study text to add to my notes for my next meeting with AUD but considering the enormous amount of topics for FAR I think the slides are good enough. Hopefully Ninja MCQ will better prepare me as well.

    FAR - 74, 76!!!!(5/15/15)
    AUD - 68,71, 73, 92!!!!(1/11/16)
    REG - 68, 71, 78!!(2/22/16)
    BEC - 75!!(10/2/15)

Everybody is different so I would have to disagree with dbennet. Watching video lectures is really helpful for me and Pam is by far the best of the presenters in the CPA Excel material. There are 45 hours of CPA Excel lecture, 1800 MCQ in the course software and 1,000+ pages in the two books. I didn't keep a log but i probably spent 100 hours to get through all of that material. Then spent another 20-30 doing MCQ questions from the test bank in increments of 30. I studied on average 2 -3 hours a day which got me through in 7 weeks. So if you're scheduled at the end of February I would think you have enough time.

    FAR 10/24/15 - 87
    BEC 11/30/15 - 88
    AUD 01/10/16 - 88
    REG 02/27/16 - 77

@ OP, I feel your pain 100,000%. I did BEC in 6 weeks and it was my first section. I was able to easily move through all of my lessons at the pace presented to me. I never fell behind more than a day and would easily be able to make it up. At the beginning of my FAR studying I felt like I was trying to take a drink from a fire hose. THERE'S NO WAY YOU COULD GET THROUGH ALL OF THE MATERIAL unless you didn't have a job. I understand the program appears to be front loaded but I had to move my exam all the way to the end of Feb just to slow it down. Some of the tops have 8 TBS. That would take 2 hours by itself in some cases. Does anyone have any advice? I'm finding myself only working some of the TBS just to get through the material so I will have time at the end to hammer NINJA MCQs!

    BEC - 84
    FAR - 82
    AUD - 86
