    NINJA Question –

    Hi everyone,

I recently just started studying for the CPA exam. I am currently studying for REG and AUD. I have got Becker for free through my company. However, I’m just self-learning by reading the book as I found beckers videos useless. I came across Roger’s videos and they seem pretty helpful. I’ve looked at some past threads and saw people supplemented either of these programs with NINJA. What would you say would be most helpful to purchase? For those that used Becker, were you finding yourself conceptually clear from just reading the book and answering test bank questions? Anyone who purchased Roger, would you say it was a good investment for his videos on all 4 topics or does he have strengths in his videos for any topics in particular? Or I’d be better off just purchasing NINJA questions with the Becker program my company paid for?

    Becker + Roger + NINJA?
    or
    Becker + NINJA?

I had started the process with Becker several years ago and like you, found the videos to be useless. I quickly lost interest and decided to not pursue. My employer offered to foot the bill for anyone wishing to sit for the CPA exam last year. I decided to go with Roger based on recommendations from some friends and watching some of his stuff on Youtube. So far I've used him for FAR and BEC and am just starting with AUD. FAR was excellent. I really felt like his approach helped me better understand the concepts and not just memorize the answers. Although my employer purchased the entire premium package, I found the books, videos, IPQs, and the cram course to be the most beneficial. I couldn't listen to the audio lectures because I'm a visual learner and need to see what I'm learning. I've never used a flash card in my life so they had no benefit for me. I'm also not a note taker so I still haven't written anything down.

For FAR, I went through the entire course and used the cram course as a review during the last week before the test. The cram course was an excellent way to refresh my memory with the early FAR chapters Roger's MCQs in the IPQs were somewhat redundant so I did supplement with Ninja MCQs for FAR which I paid for out of my own pocket.

For BEC, I didn't have time to complete the cram course nor did I purchase additional MCQs. Of the two, FAR was FAR better (see what I did there :)) than BEC. So far AUD has been OK, but I've barely gotten into the material. As a caveat, I haven't received my BEC score yet, but if I failed, it's my failure to prepare more so than the review course's perceived shortcomings. I do plan on supplementing his MCQs with additional MCQs.

    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - NINJA in Training
