How do you all stay motivated throughout the process?

I am currently studying for FAR and if I thought the other sections were hard, this one take the cake for being the most difficult! I failed AUD twice, passed BEC and am waiting on my REG score (didn’t feel too great about it). I’m starting to loose motivation to keep studying because I just feel like I am never going to pass these sections. I had felt so prepared for Audit and even walked out of the exam confident only to get a 74 for the SECOND time.

I always did really well in school especially in my accounting classes that focus heavily on preparing us for the CPA exam… many of my peers are flying through the exam and I am over here struggling to make it by. Does anyone have advice about how to stay motivated throughout the process and continue studying even if you aren’t passing?

    Thank!!

I'm studying for FAR as well and it's terrible. Honestly, besides just wanting to be successful and get my life back, what's motivating me the most is getting one more test done before the long score releases ahead. At least, if I get half of the exam completed, the long score releases should be more tolerable.

“How do you all stay motivated throughout the process?”

I didn't, I stayed miserable. Took me 15 months altogether to pass and got my license two months ago. Everyday at work, I had the lectures playing on a Bluetooth earbud. Every night I dozed off with the book opened. Every weekend, I took 1 hour break for every two hours of studying so I wouldn't go crazy. I hope my story would motivate you knowing people are struggling out there.

Well, if you think passing the CPA exam is hard, wait until you understand the true meaning of “The more you know, the more you know you don't know.”

It is very challenging. I'm really burned out, but keep pushing through. You have to want it and also make sacrifices!

Wife, kids, parents, in-laws, coworkers, etc.

Probably my kids the most. It's teaching them about discipline and hard work.

Which reminds me, why the hell am I on this website?

See ya, back to studying. Test on Monday!

^ Lol. Because no one else understands the bullsh*t that comes along with these exams. I am very grateful and have learned a lot, but this process is very stressful. You better WANT IT, otherwise goodluck passing!

I've told too many people that I'm taking the exams. The fear of admitting failure is enough to keep going for me.

Getting a CPA license is all the motivation I need. I worked for too long and too hard to quit now…Just have to keep going, and the faster I do it, the better for everyone, especially my poor husband and children who get an angry, crabby, unavailable mom while all this is happening….

I agree with your point on being so close the finish line. I have one more to go and I feel super motivated to study every night. It's a weird feeling but I like to finish strong.

I read out loud often why I'm doing this. This “why” thing is all over the place, but I don't know where it originated. I even have “why” I'm in Legal-shield (MLM, formerly Pre-Paid Legal). Small group. Family. And exercise often with my dog. My wife shows me pictures of our daughter. Seeing those 2 is inspiration.
