    Hello!

I am taking FAR for the first time in early December, this is my first CPA exam and I have no clue what to expect! I am currently using Becker and I’m midway through F4 which covers Consolidation Acquisition Method. I study about 40-50 hours a week including watching the lectures, doing MCQs, and studying. I would really like to pass the first time and get this out of the way. I have also purchased the online flashcards on Becker, would you recommend that I purchase additional materials? Any helpful tips will be greatly appreciated, please share what you did/ are doing to study for FAR! Thanks!

Do you have access to recent AICPA New Released MCQs? Make sure to check them. These MCQs might have been already added in your new app.

For SIMs, make sure you read all notes/flashcards/textbook(front-to-back cover). Also, take down notes while watching videos or listening to audios. Lots of source documents for DRS, many tabs/pages to open or scroll.

Do as much MCQs/SIMs app practices, if possible. It helps your speed and time management during the exam. The 2017 FAR MCQs were 80%+ calculations. Picture yourself taking an exam, with 40-45/40-45/25-30/65-60/70-60 Testlets split.

Make sure to visit AICPA website for the Sample test. Get yourself comfortable with the app and its functionality. Besides your Becker app or any CPA exam app, it's the closest experience you can have before the actual exam.

If you need supplementary materials, added to your MCQs/SIMs Becker app, I would recommend Ninja Sniper products.

    Good luck.

Lots of good stuff on this thread including a tirade I did on Becker but ymmv.

I need help on how to study FAR!!!!

Bottom line – I found very little use in the flashcards (I got the printed ones – will probably use for kindling).

Videos and/or book, a selection of the questions, then progress tests.

Ninja Notes and MCQ bring both a second perspective on concepts plus a very well executed battery of MCQ which will cover just about everything. You can do that with Becker but not as well as Ninja.

    AUD - 77
    BEC - 81
    FAR - 77
    REG - 81
REG - 1. Becker only - fail (forgot to study depr - oops); 2. Becker only - Pass
FAR - 1. Becker only - fail; 2. added Ninja Notes and MCQ - Pass
AUD - 1. Becker videos; Ninja Notes, Audio, MCQ, Becker Notes - Pass
BEC - 1. Ninja Notes, Audio, MCQ, Becker Notes - Pass
