75 on Reg wow wow wowMarch 21, 2017 at 3:30 am #1517188AnonymousInactive
I got my REG score just now – 80! for REG. I took it on March 6th.
I did not manage my time properly and going into sims after mcqs and bathroom break had only 45 minutes to finish. As this was my first CPA exam ever, I really took effort and spent extra minutes to get correct answers on 1st testlet, and then the 2nd testlet was so much harder! Surprisingly I got a lot of business law questions, like bankruptcy or agency, which drilled to very peculiar details, I basically had to really take time to think them over and ultimately make educated guesses. 3rd testlet was approximately the same as 2nd.
My sims were quite unexpected, tested on some obscure details. I managed to finish 1 research (it was a VERY strange question, never touched upon in review materials but thankfully I took advice from this forum and reviewed IRC structure quite thoroughly before exam, so I think I got that one right), 1 DRS (not hundred percent sure if I made it correct, but it was on individual taxation and seemed ok), and one more sim about property transactions. This last one required lots of calculations; btw, there were no fall down menus whatsoever. At the end I really did not even have time to put in zeros in the remaining sims and submitted them blank within 10 seconds left.
After the exam I felt I scored anywhere between 70 and 80 and thankfully I made it!
I guess I did really good on mcqs and that pulled me into passing range
Now on to FAR 🙂
Good luck to everyone still taking on REG!!March 21, 2017 at 8:23 am #1517409nolan7120Participant

Congrats gentlemen and gentlewomen!
Oh I so dearly wanted to pass this one, in order that I might have a summer vacation for the first time in years.
I woke up the wife early and bounced on the bed a bit. Now onto the final one.

I passed REG with 88 and so I am half way with have BEC and AUD to pass. I will retake BEC for the 2nd time, 1st time I got 71, at the end of April and AUD probably in July.
Good job everybody! It is a lot of effort and dedication. I lost my job at the end of the year and on the bright side I had more time to study. ☺
Most of the people in this forum seem to be on their 20s or 30s. I am on my 40s. Is there any hiring of people my age? I worked for KPMG in South America and internal auditing for BellSouth in South America too.March 21, 2017 at 10:03 am #1517655Ne’OParticipant
About age: I'm 44 going on 45. –Congrats on the REG pass.–
I can say that two of our regional CPA firms are looking for me to hand in my resume when I pass.
Part of that though is I'm about 5th dan when it comes to Finance and Portfolio Management.
Where exactly in South America. My wife worked for Department of Economics in country X back in the day.

Great news to fall asleep last night knowing I passed the REG exam. What helped me the most in increasing my score from my first attempt was to always GO BACK TO THE WEIGHTED OUTLINE for material. In other words, Individual Tax is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than Contact Law. It's about 60% of the old version of the exam if I remember correctly. You WILL NOT pass unless you have a firm grasp on that topic. Be efficient with your time-look at what you are being tested on and the importance of the material to determine how much time to give it.March 21, 2017 at 12:27 pm #1518109EliParticipant
83!! 17 point increase from when I failed REG in November.. I feel like I'm living proof that not seeing an increase in test difficulty does not mean you didn't pass.
SIMS were straightforward and pretty easy
MCQ was a beast. I was really worried because everyone on here was saying how obvious it was that their testlets were getting more difficult. Although I found each testlet hard, I felt like they were all medium for me. And it's not because I thought it was easy..far from it. None of my questions were wordy and there were no complex computations. If you knew the rule, it was simple to calculate. I assumed this was a bad sign because on past tests it was really easy to see the increase in difficulty.
Never count yourself out until you receive your score because you truly never know with these tests.March 21, 2017 at 1:06 pm #1518258tmjcpaParticipant

I took REG on 10/14/16.
This is my second section of the CPA Exam. I like REG in most cases because I love taxes and the tax laws.
When I got my score back on 11/04/16, I have a:
Another excellent score! It seems that my scores are really high in FAR and REG. Thanks to my experience in H&R Block during 2016, this helps me a lot. The business law and accountants’ ethics are not too bad.
To be honest with you, I stupidly missed one tax question but this does not costs me because I performed very well. lol
Move on to AUD, coming up shortly.August 16, 2017 at 8:27 pm #1601876

Passed Reg with 86. Of all the exams I took this was actually the most stressful on test day and probably the most difficult exam for me (I studied minimal for BEC). One thing that helped me with all my exams but specifically reg and the new format was that I get through my MC questions very quickly. I finished MC well ahead of schedule and used ALL of my time on the sims. There were times when I said I understand the concept but what do you want me to do here… your question and wording does not make sense.
I had a lot of that lashing at at the REG exam. Ultimately the extra time allowed me to use the authoritative literature to check myself on some items. Alll in some of the material was interesting but of all the exams this is the one you could not pay me to do again!August 17, 2017 at 1:35 am #1602486AnonymousParticipant
As of tonight I've finally passed all 4 exams. REG was the only one that I failed with a frustrating 74 in Q1. I studied so hard for my retake for an entire month. I did everything I could possibly do and I managed to make an 83 in Q2 with the new format.
With the new exam you have to move faster on REG. The sims take forever. You need atleast 2 hrs and 30 mins for the sims. I left 2 blank when I passed with a 83, bc I ran out of time.August 17, 2017 at 1:46 am #1602507nothingtoofancyParticipant
Passed REG with a 90! First exam. Used Ninja only (clocked in about 40 hours), finished with a whole hour left to spare. I guess I'll forgive you for getting rid of the $47 MCQ only.August 17, 2017 at 2:12 am #1602543CPAISMYBFParticipant
offically done with 4 exams, could not have came any sooner!!! passed reg!!!! All I have to say is never give up and keep studying……if it is possible for me, i am 100% sure it is possible for anyone who is working/studying hard!!!! I only used becker, if you study the material in detail and have enough time to go over all the MC questions and lectures and etc. The time spent should be enough and in addition, pay attention to all the words and concepts and look up anything you don't understand for your understanding to sit in your memory. I actually restudied majority of the book and ready to retake if I didn't pass this quarter. You guys can all do it!!! I believe!!!! and congratz everyone else!August 17, 2017 at 3:45 am #1602657llewis13Participant
Passed REG with an 86! Can't believe it because I walked out very confident that I failed. When a marching band starts playing outside your window during the test and frustration gets the best of you, naturally you don't have high expectations. If I can pass REG with that distraction, I'm going to kill it on my last one – FAR!
CONGRATS to all those who passed!August 17, 2017 at 4:37 am #1602707afrieband16Participant

Well, it took me 5 tries on REG, but I finally did it. 11 total exam sittings and I. AM. DONE.
REG was terrible. I will tell anyone who is up against the wire with an expiring exam pending to use a tutor. I was leery about going that route but dropped some $ on an amazing guy in FLA (screenshare/phone sessions) and he is honestly what made the difference for me. I could not for the life of me ever get my score on Taxation on Entities to get out of the Weaker zone. With my 4th fail being a 72 and another Weaker on Entities, that's all I focused on with the tutor. He got me to a Stronger on my score from today – 76. That 76 might as well be a 99 at this point.
Because I. AM. DONE.
Congrats to others who slayed this beast.September 18, 2017 at 10:28 pm #1631254
