How To Study for Audit Retake?

Hey guys, I just received my audit score of a 72. I haven’t received my performance report yet, but I’m not sure where I went wrong, considering that I was scoring around 90% on my progress tests during the last week. I am using Becker to study, and I was wondering what advice you guys have.

I read the book and took notes for my first attempt, should I switch it up and read the book and watch lectures? Also, what do you think is a reasonable time period to retake this exam?

    Thank you!

I would take it as quickly as possible. I felt like AUD more than any other exam has more of a disconnect between the multiple choice and the sims. Most of the MCQ are conceptual in nature, with very few calculations. Then you move onto Sims, which all of a sudden ask you to apply the concepts at a high level, including computations. If you get your score report back and find out you did well on MCQ and poorly on sims, I would definitely attack sims. Do the skillbuilder exercises in each section. Then do the Becker sims and watch the skillmaster videos for each sim. You'll kill it on the retake.

Hey, sorry to hear about the 72. I know the feeling, I failed in Q3 last year with a 71 and was in complete shock because I knew I was prepared considering I scored 74, 79 and 81 on the mock exams and was scoring 80-90s on progress tests. My advice is don't beat yourself up, look at the score report and focus consider giving extra reading attention to the areas you were weaker in. Start re-studying as soon as you can, redo all MQS and SIMs for each chapter and see if you can get a retake done in about 3-4 weeks. You got this!

@Jimmy Dugan thank you so much! Do you recommend going through all the material again? I'm just torn on how soon I should take it because I don't want to fail again

I didn't retake the mock exams. At most I would just look at the report to see the things you got wrong the first time you took them.

I would not go all the way back through it. Let the multiple choice questions uncover your weak areas and hit that material hard.

@jimmy dugan @jd just checked my score report and I did stronger/comparable on everything except weaker on sims and weaker on performing audit procedures and obtaining evidence… have either of you guys used ninja for sims? I used Becker to study the sims, but I think I need more.
