I am very proud to say I passed my last part of the CPA exam.

Does anyone know of the following steps for getting licensed in Texas? I already completed the oath of office, and my former boss will be filling out the work experience paper work. The ethics course will be provided on the CPE tool by my current employer.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get info so I can take the Rules of Professional Conduct exam? Does the Application for Issuance need to be submitted first before anything else can proceed? Any insight is appreciated.

I went through this last quarter…

They'll send you a congratulatory letter with the CPA License application. I received this within a week of getting my last score. You'll have to get everything filled out and mailed then about a week after they receive it they'll send you the link for the Professional Conduct exam. It took about 3.5 weeks from them receiving my packet until my license was issued to actually become a CPA.

What APH said above. They send you the final email telling you it is all done.

You can then go online to the licensee lookup at TSBPA and search for your name here:

    https://www.tsbpa.state.tx.us/php/fpl/indlookup.php

Twice a year they hold the official swearing in ceremony in Austin. It is similar to a college graduation where you sit in order of last name and they call your name as the certificate is given to you. The top 10 test takers who passed all sections on the first attempt and had the highest scores are seated on the stage. The individual with the highest score gets to give a speech. TSBPA board members and senior staff give speeches and make the presentation of certificates. The whole thing runs about 90-120 minutes. I went to the one in December 2016 and it was worth the drive from Houston. There is an option to have them mail the certificate but it is a once in a lifetime thing so I would suggest going if at all possible. I'm not sure how many max guests are allowed but I took immediate family and we had a great time.

BTW, if you go I would suggest biz attire….suit/tie for men and pant suit or coat/skirt for women. A small minority wore T shirt/jeans and they looked very out of place.

Thank you for all the info!

My apologies for replying so late, I don't get on this forum as often as I used to (which is expected, I suppose?)

I got the packet and just sent everything in today. Would you know how long it takes to get the Conduct exam graded?

I am expecting to receive the exam sometime next week following the timeline for the post above. I was hoping to be licensed in the first week of March. Does that sound reasonable?

Anyone applied for a TX license recently? How long does it take? I completed my Prof Conduct exam about 2 days ago.

Took and passed mine a week ago. I e-mailed the individual the day after regarding a receipt I requested and mentioned I passed the exam. She said it takes a couple days for the scores to get to her, but I saw the score uploaded to my Certification qualification that same day. She also mentioned to wait for notification when I receive a registration number, but still no news.

I am the most impatient person in the world, especially when I feel like this should not take this long, so hopefully I find out I am officially certified soon.
