Hello – has anybody had experience with the ILBOE and asking for any type of extension with all the delays in scoring and problems?

I’m in a situation where I just failed FAR (3rd time, ouch), meaning I need to pass FAR and Reg by 6/10 or losing my credit for BEC. what’s frustrating to me is that due to the almost 3 month wait in scoring, I won’t know what to study for in the window between June and September.

Um unless I missed something, scores for the next window are scheduled to be released on 6/29…

I understand. so i take a test 4/4 and 6/9 and if i fail both I wont know until 6/29 (i would have lost my original credit expiring 6/10/18) meaning in theory I could have been studying for a retake on 7/1. if it had been business as usual, I would have known about the failed 4/4 test in late April, not late June.

Gotcha. My understanding from various posts I've seen on this forum (so very professional advice) is that you can ask for an extension on the expired credit once you have passed the others. I don't know from experience, so on that front I'm not much help and maybe someone else will chime in.

With any luck, you'll pass both tests next window and this question will be moot.

Based on the fact last year, Q2 scores were released on 8/22/17. They allowed an automatic extension to 12/10/17 for scores expired between 4/1/17 and 8/22/17, if you had passed 3 sections prior to Q2 and took your last section in Q2. Then you can wait for your 4th section score to be released on 8/22/17 and then, if failed, still had a chance to retake that section before 12/10/17.

But for this year, you need to ask them because the score release would not be delayed that much.

    BEC - 79
    FAR - 83
    REG - 87

I called in March and they said “Don't worry about credits expiring. We will accomodate you”. So sorta like the 2017 situation, except scores are only 8 weeks delayed, instead of 3 months. So they could perhaps grant us 2 to 3 months extension. I will ask for 6 months, but I'm gonna assume I didn't pass my 4th part and start studying now just in case. I will wait till 6/28 when my scores come out, and then ask. Worse case scenario, we should get 3 additional months. If not, I will complain to the State Attorney, and I would like others to do the same, until we are all given 6 months.

Yes, that would be the best course of action, send the board all the information you can. But they will also take into account what exam time you missed. The extensions due to the delay last year was mainly granted because candidates could not test for an entire window. With this change in release date you don't miss anytime since you can still only take each sections once per testing window. If you fail in Q2 then you would be able to take it the first day in Q3 not wait until Q4 like last year. But it can never hurt to ask.
