I’m currently studying for AUD. I’m using GLEIM. I stuck to my studying schedule for the first week but I cannot score higher than a 60 on the MCQs and simulations. I’m going into my second week and I’m struggling with retaining what I’ve learned in the first week. I realize that AUD is going to require a lot of memorizing…it’s only week 2 and I’m struggling to remember week 1…how am I going pass this exam? I usually rewrite my notes till I can recite it but it’s taking way too much time. I work full time and have two kids under 5. I usually study M-F from 8PM to Midnight and 5 hours on Saturday. I don’t think I can commit any more time than this.

If you aim to get through each chapter within 2 days and score at least a 75% on both MCQs and SIMs for each chapter you will pass the exam. GLEIM is slightly harder than the actual exam for AUD and noticeably harder than the actual exam for FAR and REG. Just keep going over that material until it sticks. Take your time. Extend your test if you need to. I work full time and have a toddler so I know that feeling but you just gotta want it and it will happen. Good luck.

honestly, when I was studying, once i moved on to a new chapter, i always felt like i completely forgot what i learned in the previous chapters. but when you are in the exam and you see the questions, more knowledge comes back to you than you think. Also, of course doing reviews of all the material before the exam helps you remind yourself of what you had learned.

AUD is one of those ones that really comes together in the end.
Just keep plugging away at it, don't get bogged down in the gritty details.
Keep working through, try for 2 chapters a week, doing some cumulative quizzes once a week to keep it fresh.
It'll all come together at the end once you see the full picture.
It's completely normal to want to quit, you'll get through it.

I felt the same way while studying for BEC. Literally, nothing made sense. Don't give up. Pace yourself and keep practicing until you score at least a 70 on your MCQs. It will come together. You can do this!

Don't give up! I had a small 2 year old worked full time, in tax, with the following schedule. I would wake up at 4am (before the baby) and study until 7am. I went to work and then I would study from 8pm to 11pm (after the baby went to bed). On the weekends I would study about 4 or 6 hours per day at the office or library. I did this schedule the maximize time spent with my family.

One thing that really helped me was, I kept telling myself I was doing this for my family and that gave me the push I needed.

    Stay in there!

How many weeks before you pass each exam with your above schedule?

Keepmotivated, if your question was for me, I studied and passed both Audit and BEC within 4 to 6 weeks. My audit score went from a 54 to 85, and BEC went from 58 to 80. The schedule helped me a lot because, I wasn't “missing” that much family time and am able to function with limited sleep as long as I keep downing the coffee! The key, in my opinion, to pass this exam is study/prepare in a way that works best for you, and don't be afraid to try a new method. I bounced around from Roger and Becker, finally deciding on Becker. I also, since I am a terrible test taker, did some of the live Becker classes after work, from 6-10 or something, thinking I had to have something hold me accountable to study, before realizing I didn't start passing parts until I did everything the self study method way. I was not a great student and never really “knew” how to study, so this whole experience has been a learning journey for me. Perhaps you are old-fashioned and prefer a hard copy textbook to highlight or maybe you are more tech savy and prefer to read on an iPad. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and try something else, because if you are like me and spend YEARS failing, how much worse can it get?

    Keep at it!

CPA is something that's going to be very difficult to obtain unless YOU want it. If you don't want to pursue it, you shouldn't. It's definitely not something you can't do without. There are plenty of successful people without the license. I am not saying it's easy, but it sounds like you really hate it. No one should be forced into doing something that they hate so much.

Studying for the exam is painful and LONG! Let's be honest, it's not for everyone. I was beside myself studying for the last two tests, but if you just keep your head down and stick to your planned studying schedule, you'll get through it. At the end of the day, all of the stress will be worth it. Like Jombe said, though, just make sure that it's something you really want. If so, keep it moving! If you passed one, you can pass them all.
