Is 4 weeks enough to study and retake REG?

I took REG on 3/6 and failed it with a 64. I am planning to retake it on 4/24 so that would give me about 4 weeks study time.

I currently study full time so I put in about 5 hours Monday-Friday. I am currently using Becker and NINJA Notes.

What is your suggestion on the best use of my study time? Do you suggest I increase my study time or just reschedule my retake??

    Any advise is greatly appreciated!!

If you're only priority is studying, I would say bump up your study time and keep the exam day. It's different for everybody, but I work full-time and study about 4 hours/day Monday-Friday and get in around 4-8 hours on both Saturday/Sunday. For me, studying is tedious and obnoxious so I try to get the hours in by doing shorter study sessions.

Ultimately, do you think you could study more than 5 hours a day and be productive? If not, then don't push it – quality over quantity. When I first started studying, the most I could do was probably 2 hours a weekday and maybe 4 on the weekends but I've slowly bumped it up.

    Good luck on the retake!

I'm going to be the person who says "I finished even though..." not the person who says "I didn't finish because..."

I will definitely try to study a few more hours and weekends from today on. I just feel I am wasting a lot of time watching video lectures again. At this point I don't know what study structure I should follow to maximize my time and comprehension.

Should I skip lectures and just read the book and practice MC and SIMS?

or should I keep watching lectures AND read the book along with MC and SIMS?

    HELP!!

You definitely can do it in 4 weeks, but you have to study non-stop and it sucks big-time (but so worth it!). I took BEC last November around the 8th or 9th and then took REG on December 9th. It was a terrible 4 weeks but I ended up passing it with a 76.

My advice is to stop watching the lectures. If you feel they're wasting your time (I felt the same), just read and re-read the book until your eyes bleed, then do MCQs over and over. I didn't spend too much time on the sims, maybe once or twice through for all of them. For me MCQs really help drive the concepts home. I was using becker for all of this, by the way.

    Good luck man.

I failed REG the first time with a 63 and then passed on my retake about 5 weeks later. 4 weeks is definitely doable. The NINJA notes were a huge help, and hammering the MCQs a ton. I probably spent 85-90% of time time doing MCQ for the retake, taking notes on the questions I got wrong

I would say 4 weeks would be too much. I think a good solid two weeks of reworking only the tax sections while taking time to study what you are getting wrong and a few days of going over BL concepts. Anyways, this is what I had planned if I had failed. Everyone is different though.

@Delawhere Thanks! I am going to just read the book then, I feel like I can read much faster than just sitting and watching lectures.

I don't spend too much on sims either, I passed FAR by just doing MCQ , I never did any sim. But with the new version coming up, I feel like I should at least practice them once or twice just to be more prepared.

Did you ever feel like you memorized the MCQ? I am afraid this can happen to me if I repeat them so many times.

@Iceman6… Thank you for your advice, what's the best way to use NINJA notes? I just get overwhelmed with all those pages!

@bigbear86, I haven't scheduled the retake yet, so if I can get though chapters 1-4 with a good understanding I will definitely schedule it sooner because you are right, those chapters are the hardest. I just want to be very confident this time because after August I would only have 3 months to retake (knock on wood) any failed exams….

Use the notes as a supplement. You have a Spare 20-30 mins go over the topics you did MCQs on, dont try and tackle the whole notes in one sitting

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 78
    REG - 80

In my opinion, if you are doing 5 hours a day and 4-8 each day on the weekend, you are studying too much. You might be overdoing it and not giving yourself enough time to rest and absorb the information. If you are doing 5 hours a day, I would definitely build in a rest day or something, like no studying on Sunday. But yes, 4 weeks would be plenty of time for a retake. I wouldn't watch any lectures, but re-read and take notes on each chapter and then work as many MCQ's as possible.
