Im kinda confident on taking reg when the time comes because ive Passed EA exam. FAR’s first few chapters intimidated me and are really calculation heavy. BEC seems to have some calculations too or computing supply / demand.

Ive skimmed a few 20 question random mcqs on AUD, and I havent really ran into any calculation. That is such a relief. If most of it is low calculation and mainly conceptual, I’d like to start there and get the ball rolling.

    Any opionions?

Little calculation is an understatement for AUD.

I have to say that FAR helped me understand BEC and AUD a lot better and more easily. I know FAR is intimidating but it provides a good foundation to help you better understand the other topics. I really agree with those who say take FAR first. You don't want to feel burnt out before you even get to FAR. Its easy to lose motivation when you're in a constant uphill battle.

    AUD - 87
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 75
    REG - 82

    Hi, Thanks for the feedback,

I would rather take a test first that isn't going to stress me out. While it may be beneficial to do FAR first for the understanding of the financial statements, The calculations and memorizing them are stressful. WIth the AUD mcqs ive seen, it is just understanding best practicies and procsesses to make sure that the Financial statements comply with GAAP or the appropriate framework. That is much simpler to me, and while it may be working backwards, Passing the exams in whatever order works is my ultimate goal.

To clarify, when you say that low calculation is an understatement, does that mean that there is basically no calculations on AUD? A mostly or all conceptual exam is perfect for me to start with

PCO: May I ask if you have any accounting experience other than school? If you don't, AUD may be harder than you think. AUD has the lowest passing rate so don't underestimate it. However I believe there are members here that took AUD first and passed.

There are a few ratios you must know for AUD but you could easily study it for 1 hour and be done.

    AUD - 87
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 75
    REG - 82

Audit is the easiest test, and the only one I failed (twice at that – so yes, in my perception, it is the silent beast). The MCQ are conceptual, but when you get to the SIMS, calculations were required. It will greatly benefit you to have a good knowledge of FAR. The difference in my second and third tries on AUD were greatly benefitted by having a slight knowledge of FAR material (I had only watched the Roger lectures at that point).

    AUD - 90
    BEC - 79
    FAR - 86
    REG - 81
    Licensed CPA - Tennessee

    Finished Exams in December 2016

    REG - 81

    AUD - 74, 72, 90

    BEC - 79

    FAR - 86

I have experience doing bookkeeping for my dads construction company. And I have passed the EA exam and will be working in a EA tax firm for tax season. Thats the extent of it for me.

But the less calculation and the more concept, the better for me. What exactly is it that makes FAR so good to do before AUD? It seems that AUD is much easier (I hear REG and AUD are the harder ones).

I just want to pass one before the exam changes, and AUD seems like the most doable without stressing memorizing calculations. Id rather do AUD then REG, and then finish up with BEC and FAR

If you want to pass one exam before the exam, you should take the exam that is changing the most. Which is BEC. More change = harder exam.

    BEC - 79
    FAR - 62,73,76
    AUD - 70, 88
    REG - 83

BEC seems way harder than AUD already.

I'm studying audit right now and I can see that it's much easier than the other three sections but mainly because I have already taken FAR which really help you as a kind of foundation to your audit review! Take journal entries for example, in audit, it is not clearly identified which areas that you would be required to do journal entries so FAR here helps you to not even bother yourself in this area in audit. However I know it's hard to take FAR first, so I would say take BEC or REG and believe me it's not that hard as you may think now because you are only overwhelmed with the materials as just what I felt when I first started

    Done!
