Is getting two research sims actually a good thing

So got a 70 on Reg and actually felt as good on MC as I have on the other three tests in which I passed first time. The sims i did not feel confident at all on and assumed that was probably the reason I failed. I did get two research sims, which I’m pretty sure I got both correct. There were also a couple sims in which the directions (should be easy) seemed very unclear and wasn’t sure how to approach this. Also, one of the others was fairly tricky also. I know sometimes not all the sims count on the test so I would assume maybe that if you get two research sims, prob. one of those wouldn’t count as oppossed to one of the more difficult ones. Any thoughts?

    I don't think it's good or bad. I had 2 and passed

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

I would think it would be good if you are efficient with the AL and are able to knock out both research SIMs quickly. That would be good because then you; a) have quickly finished 2/7 SIMs and b) know that the other 5/7 SIMs will count toward your grade and you can spend more time focusing on those SIMs.

Alternatively, it would be terrible if you were completely lost on a couple of the other SIMs and really needed one of them to be your pre-test SIM.

I also had 2 and passed this window for REG. But getting familiar with the AL will def help you nail that retake next round. It might not give you some of the specifics you might want on the SIMs but it can lead you in the right direction. Good luck

    BEC - 82 (GLEIM)
    AUD -85 (GLEIM)
    FAR -75 (GLEIM)
REG - 59, 80 (Gleim + NINJA Audio and NINJA MCQ)
    ETHICS -91
    DONE!!

I came here to ask this question too. I got 2 research SIMs and felt 100% that I got one right and 95% that I got the other one right. My other 4 SIMs were all over the place. I'd be lucky to have gotten 60% on those.

I didn't adequately prepare for REG but had to take it yesterday because the clock was running out and it was the only day I could squeeze it in.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be done with the CPA but don't . So I'm planning on trying again in mid-April, but hoping to be pleasantly surprised on March 10.

I personally think its a good thing to have two SIMS. I also think it has a normal chance of counting as a real question.

I had two research sims and failed with 73 in November.

This Jan I had two research sims again and passed with a 91. I do not think it reflects how you performed in MCQ's.

    FAR: 85 (Becker)
    AUD: 88 (Becker)
BEC: 82 (Becker + Ninja 10 Point Combo)
    REG: 74, 73, 91 DONE!!! (Becker + Ninja Notes and Ninja MCQ's)

yeah idk, i just feel like there seems to always be one pretest question correct? so if you got 2 research sims, i'd be hardpressed to believe both will count then and the other generally harder sims will all count then which would suck, so feel like most most would want to take their chance with just the 1 research sim.

While nobody knows for sure, the consensus is that if you get 2 research questions, one of them will be a pretest question.

As such, I actually think getting 2 research questions is a bad thing. I would much rather one of my long form sims be the pre-test than a research question.

I had only 1 sim and only 6 total sims. Felt a bit strange. I have had tests with 2 and with 1. Not sure if it matters, but I do agree that I would much rather have one of the large sims at a practice question as opposed to a sim.

I commented on this one two weeks ago with a link to an interesting post I found that said that a lot of the time the second one is graded. Was my comment deleted, and if so, why? I kind of hoped I could reference it if I ever wanted to find that link. I don't understand how comments are just randomly removed with no notification.

I personally think its a bad thing. I got 2 research SIMs on AUD on REG and failed both lol. I'm pretty sure one is usually a pre-test (nobody knows for sure) so that means the other ones count. So if you do bad on the other ones your probably in trouble.

y_u_no_pass: There are two possibilities. About a week or two ago Jeff suffered a database failure. As a result about 24 hours worth of posts were lost when the database was restored. Your post may have been caught in that.

The second possiblity was that your post was too specific in regards to material on the actual exam. Those posts will get deleted due to the agreement we sign when we sit for the exam saying that we will not disclose what was on the exam.

I don't really see any malicious post deleting on this board so I have a feeling your post was lost when the database crashed.

It is my understanding that the SIMs are predetermined and, thus, have nothing to do with how well you are performing on the exam, so if you're asking if getting two research SIMs means anything in that regard, I'd say no.

I never got two research SIMs on any of my exams, so I can't say whether or not it might've had an impact on my score. It would seem that you have a greater chance of getting a research question right. But do the research questions carry the same weight as the others?

No the point value on the research question is very low. Other sims which have multiple boxes are worth more. As every box is worth some point value. So if your running out of time save the research one for last because overall it's worth the least points out of all the sims.
