Is Wiley Testbank Enough For FAR?

I failed FAR during the last window. I was using Becker 2011 but it expired and I already used the 3 month extension. From Jeffs video it looks like the CSOs haven’t changed. I still have the 2011 Becker book, 2011 Becker lectures on mp3, and ninja notes. Will the Wiley test bank be enough to study FAR?

I think the answer is it depends on you. I passed FAR using nothing but cpareviewforfree.com and google. (was my first exam, hadn't found this website and I was beyond clueless) But having failed a couple of exams after that I say give yourself whatever advantages you're able to. If you are in a position to use something else too, do it!

When you boil it down to brass tacks, so to speak, I passed FAR just using the Ninja notes and the PRINTED Wiley book. I understand that the online test bank is different from the PRINTED Wiley book.

I read and hand wrote the ninja notes and went through Wiley twice (ran out of time). I did not work anything except the research SIMS and I ended up with a 79.

@CPAPending I did the same! I used only Wiley Book and NINJA notes and I also got a 79, ha! However, I wrote out notes using the Wiley book, which I now realize is insane and read through the NINJA notes each day on my commute.

People really slam the Wiley book, but it has helped me pass every exam. I used only Wiley book to get my first past in BEC. I used Wiley book and NINJA notes for Audit. I tried to do the same with REG, but realized I needed the audio and testbank if I was going to pass that beast. For my re-take of BEC I used Wiley book to supplement my notes, NINJA notes to re-write and NINJA audio. I

In the end, I passed all four with Wiley. I sprinkled in some CPAExcel but found their questions to be too easy and not comprehensive enough.

I really struggled to fit FAR into my normal study plan. I had several starts and stops.

With FAR, I think the key is working the hardest questions you can get. For me, that was Wiley, hands down. I wonder how many of the Wiley haters also struggle with failing exams? I have a colleague who failed FAR using Yaeger but it was no surprise when I found out that Yaeger only had him do some of the Wiley questions. You have to work them all, over and over again on FAR.

    Just my two cents

Looking at our scores, the were oddly very close to one another. You, sir, must be one heck of a smart person! 😀

I just couldn't help but point out the fact that our scores were very close using the same method. Grain of salt my BUTT! 😀

I used the Wiley book and then only used the Wiley MCQ Test Bank during the final 2 weeks of review. I would venture to say that the Wiley Test Bank could be sufficient if you already have a good grasp of the material.

@ DesperatelySeekingChupacabra What have people said about the Wiley book? I've noticed that few people advocate for it, but I really liked it!

Wiley MCQs + Ninja Notes for me; I also well in financial accounting courses, so I'm sure that also helped.

@CPAPending I'm a ma'am, not a sir 😀 But I do think it is interesting how close our scores our! Regardless, we are DONE!

The funny thing is this morning on the bus, the guy to the right of me was reading a PCAOB update (must have been an auditor) and the girl across from me was reading her BECKER FAR book. I just giggled to myself, thankful that I'm no longer an auditor and that I no longer have to study!

@Dave A lot of people knock if for being too detailed and hard to follow. I do agree sometimes it's very wordy in the way it describes things. But that's why the NINJA notes as a supplemental help you to weed out the extra detail and focus on the important topics. Also, I believe CPAPending has said in another post the book has harder MCQs than the testbank and I will agree with that. I've done the MCQs in both the book and testbank. Lastly, the book can be outdated, but once again if you supplement with the NINJA notes, you are good to go. I used the 2011 books for all my exams and the only issue was for REG where the amounts and percentages and different, but that's where the NINJA notes helped since they are current.

I think I am going to get the Wiley Test bank and use it along with the other info that I have. I have the NINJA notes but didn't use them due to a poor use of time management in my study plan. From all the posts it looks like they can be very effective if I actually use them.

    Thanks for the responses everyone.

WOW, Big Brother is watching! My post yesterday definitely included a line about how I didn't find the NINJA Notes super helpful. And now that sentence has vanished. So much for honest disclosure in this forum!

    Who's behind the curtain?

Dave – you have uncovered the workings of a vast right-wing conspiracy.

    I didn't edit your post.

Feel free to post that they are garbage … you use them to line the cat litter box, etc.

    My feelings won't be hurt.

@Jeff I certainly don't think your notes are garbage. I just didn't find them quite as useful as many other people seem to, and that's all my missing sentence once said. Are there other moderators that might be modifying posts?

@CPAPending That picture is of Sergio Romo, closer for the SF Giants. It's from the World Series victory parade this year. He is wearing a shirt that says “I only look illegal” I thought it was funny and stirred up a lot of controversy. Plus I just like Romo, I'm a fan!
