Just failed FAR, but I'm halfway through studying the Audit material…

Hey everyone! I just got back my score for FAR, and I failed BADLY (a 50). Currently, I’m 2 weeks into studying for Audit with Becker (almost done with A4), and my exam is scheduled for April 12. Audit seems to be going MUCH better than I felt when studying for FAR.

Should I keep it going with Audit, or push it back and retake FAR first? If I do that, I’ll have to pay the rescheduling fee.

This is my first post, so I am looking forward to chatting with everyone!

So sorry for the fail. If I were you, I'd just keep going with AUD. I don't think it's worth paying the rescheduling fee. With 50 on FAR, I think you should start fresh anyway. Just my two cents. Good luck on April 12. Hope you pass AUD. Passing any section will be such a nice confidence builder.

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 83
    FAR - 79
    REG - 76

@Scott I agree with Island Mango. You need more time with FAR Studying. If you want to push yourself then I would say take the audit as scheduled and schedule FAr for the last day of the next window. You really want to go through every topic in FAR and do all the MCQs. Anything can be on the exam. Don't leave out any topic. What is your studying strategy? No matter what material you are using, make sure you study it all and practice every single MCq and then go back and review the one you got wrong at the first time around. Practice and repeat.

    AUD - 81
    BEC - 83
    FAR - 78
    REG - 78
Need to pass REG and AUD

    AUD-66,72,82
    REG-66,64(Q3 2015),80 (11/30/2015)

Definitely keep going and take audit since you are already scheduled and halfway through. Also, some of the stuff (transaction cycles and journal entries) ties in with FAR so you will see them here and then again when you go back to FAR. If you feel like you are getting a better handle on AUD, see if you are doing anything different in the way you study that you could apply to FAR. Also, make sure to look at your weak areas on the report they give you and focus on those. For me, I knew my week area was governmental and as much as I loved Roger's FAR stuff overall, his governmental videos weren't dumbed down enough for me. It just took having that topic explained by someone else (NINJA plus video with Bob Monette) to have it all click much better. There are also the FARHAT lectures which are free and I've used for a couple of sections that are a good resource. You can do this, failure is just a detour, not a dead-end street!

    FAR - 11/05/18 - 92

    BEC - 12/04/18 - 95

    AUD - 2/27/19 - 96

    REG - 4/17/19 - 93

    I’m done!!

Yeah, looking back at how I was studying for FAR, as opposed to Audit, was very different. Now, I won't go on to the next module until I have gotten every MCQ correct. When I was taking FAR, I was following the study plan Becker suggested, but that did not factor how long each module is. As a result, I would get stuck on one module, and then SKIP a lot of the questions since I was running out of time to study.

I found it to be easier to make my own personalized day-today schedule when I started Audit. I also need to work on my SIMS because that's what killed me on FAR. I ran out of time on one of the testlets.

Anyway, thanks everyone! I'll keep it going with Audit. Maybe one day out of the week I'll do a quick refresher on the FAR mock exams to keep it in my memory.
