    Hello,

I just passed the last section of the CPA exam. What do I have to do next to get my certification? I’m in the state of Ohio.

I kind of feel the same way except I'm thinking what do I do now in terms of what else can I conquer.

@jmoney, I am also in Ohio. You have to look for a state approved ethics course online and take the ethics exam. Print out the paperwork showing one year of work experience, signed by an active CPA, do a background check and then complete the CPA application, notarized, signed by a licensed CPA and pay the fee. The state accountacy board has the forms and info on where to find these requirements. If all the paperwork is good then it should take 6- 8 weeks to receive your license. Congratulations, I just need to pass BEC which I am taking in two weeks.

So if I only have 6 months of work experience, would it wait more sense to wait until May to do all the paperwork when I can actually get certified officially?

jmoney, yes I did not see that you have only 6 months in. If I were you, then I would wait to do the rest of the paperwork until you have reached one year as you cannot be licensed until then. As I understand, you can still take your ethics exam now so why not do that?

My recommendation would be to get any and all papaerwork that you can in as soon as possible. If all you need is your experience, get everything else you can done. In CA, we have to do the ethics exam, get fingerprinted, submit proof of experience, and send in some other paperwork. Get everything you can done, and that way there is only one piece of paper for them to process.

It will make the wait at the end much shorter and less stressful. I don't know about OH, but the State board in CA is very slow.

Anyone in NY? What do I do now with all sections passed (besides working and getting the 1 year of experience). I just started working at a Big 4 a few weeks ago. Will NASBA send me a letter that says I passed all the sections of the exam? Thanks in advance.
