So, i just took the new version of BEC yesterday afternoon. Obviously, it is a longer test than before the change from a time perspective.

I failed the old version with a 69 in January and have been studying my a** off ever since for the retake.

For starters, I have no earthly idea where they pulled some of this IT material. Nothing was covered in Becker for a lot of questions I saw.

The sims were also very difficult. I felt like a couple that I saw were more difficult than FAR to be honest.

I’d love to hear others experiences so far. I’ve read a few responses, but haven’t seen a whole lot of feedback yet.

@rsg149, I share your view 100%. I also took yesterday. The SIMS were difficult and voluminous compared to FAR. I also don't where they brought these IT questions. I guess AICPA should consider this matter while grading. Should we complain to AICPA? What do you think? Because I heard other people were complaining too.

Are SIM consist of Cost Accounting long calculations and Financial management ? I am curious as earlier there were so many long Costing questions(MCQ ) that I used to think they are more suitable for SIM.

Is there a review course that will cover IT enough to at least feel comfortable with the material? I know this is NOT about feelings.

I honestly don't know what to do about the IT questions. I thought becker was supposed to be the cutting edge, I'm assuming some of these IT questions had to be pretest and wont count towards the score, but who knows!

As far as the sims go, they ranged in difficulty from easy to insane. I don't know if this is breaking disclosure, and let me know if it is, but they gave me formulas on some of the sims that required calculations (like every formula in the book).

With the TBS did you actually use the formulas given? Or was it like here's some random formulas you don't need.

It was literally just a list of all of them.

I used the MCQ in the becker books, GLEIM mcq, and Ninja MCQ

none of those helped me with IT.

I think the only thing that will help you with the IT questions is an actual background in IT itself…

I made nothing but complete guesses… and somehow managed to score “stronger” in that area (im basically computer illiterate).

Hi all, those who BEC and see IT questions from nowhere please call AIPCA in 888.777.7077 or send a mail to service@aicpa.org. No need to mention your NTS or candidate number . Tell them you sat for the exam in Q2 and saw IT questions which is not in the content guidelines and ask them how are they going to grade. Also, tell them to publish in the website the proper IT content guidelines or reference book we need to follow. Please do this for the sake of yourself and also other people who are going to take BEC.

@samsam My exam is only next month. But, my two previous BEC exam experience is not very good, mainly because of IT. Last time, I didn't have the chance to send my score for verification. Considering we have only three times score release this year I am very much worried.

All the people who took exam in this quarter is already saying the same problem like last quarter, seeing too much of IT questions from nowhere they studied. My friend who took exam in Illinois said total of 18 problems in IT and she don't know half of it :-(. That's why I am asking people to call or mail AICPA . May be they are aware of the problem I don't know, but, being aware of something and taking action on it are two different things.

I contacted AICPA and they were no help. This was their reponse:

“The AICPA is not affiliated with any review courses or test preparation publishers. For this reason, we cannot comment on the appropriateness and efficacy of such products.
We are not able to discuss content of the BEC exam with candidates. Please refer to the Examination Blueprints which were approved by the Board of Examiners (BOE) for the Uniform CPA Examination, effective April 1, 2017. You can find the Blueprints here”
