I know I missed parts of some sims! Does it usually make or break you?

    Sim 1:8/8 cells right
    Sim 2: Research-got it right
Sim 3 DRS:Pretty sure at least 5/6 cells right
Sim 4: DRS: Pretty sure 6/6 cells right
    Sim 5: 12/12 cells right
    Sim 6: 2/6 cells right.

MCQ seemed to get a little harder. Required more thought and calculation to get to the answer.

Have you gotten sims wrong and still passed?

I'd say 90% of people who passed got at least part of their SIMs wrong.

If we pretend that 75 = 75% (which of course it doesn't, but we don't know what it does mean)…

And if we assume that each SIM is weighted equally…

    Then you're saying you got:

    SIM 1: 100%
    SIM 2: 100%
    SIM 3: 83%
    SIM 4: 100%
    SIM 5: 100%
    SIM 6: 33%

Total, you got 86% right on the SIMs, according to your analysis. So, if the test was SIMs-only, and required a 75% to pass, then your analysis would indicate a pass.

If this is a test that's 40% SIMs and 60% MCQs, then to get a 75% overall, you've got to 75 out of 100 total points. You got 83% of the potential 40 points on SIMs, so that's 34.4 points. You needed 75 total, so you need 40.6 points from the 60 potential points in MCQs. That's 67.67% required on MCQs to average out with the 86% on SIMs to get a 75% overall.

Now granted, this isn't a percentages game. No one knows what a “75” really means, or how the SIMs or MCQs were weighted, etc. So, I can't tell you whether you passed or not…but, people do pass having missed MCQs and SIMs. The fact that you know you missed some could mean you missed 10x more and are too ignorant to realize that, or that you know the material well enough to recognize what you didn't know. We'll go with the 2nd and say it sounds good for you. 🙂

Exactly and there's no guarantee I got what I expected on the SIMS. God knows I don't remember the mcqs but I felt like I did pretty well on them. I can usually be honest with myself if I struggled. Last time I got a 74 and if I don't pass this time I lose FAR 🙁

I never really felt confident leaving the testing center for any test. I remembered every mistake I made and none of the ones I got right. Probably why we'll make great CPA's. We, by nature, are our own worst critics.

I feel your pain brother…I got a 74 on REG last time too. If you are confident that you actually scored that well on your sims there is NO NEED to worry them. I'd consider that pretty close to “nailing” the sims..

    Also, what does DRS mean?

I used to be the king of going absolutely insane trying to figure out whether or not I passed based on how I “felt” about my exams. Let me share my experiences with you and maybe give you a tip that can save you a lot of headaches and anxiety.

The exams I scored best on were the ones where I thought I completely bombed the SIMS. I failed AUD and REG the first times I took them with a 71 and 74, and on each of those exams I was so confident that I passed because I literally thought I did perfect on the SIMS. Then I got those score reports back and would see that I scored “Weaker” in SIMS. This left me baffled and confused (and mostly really pissed off), but I proceed to retake both exams and swore on both retakes that I mathematically had no chance of passing because of how badly I bombed the SIMS. On both retakes I scored “Stronger” in SIMS with passing scores.

It makes no sense and I can't tell you how or why, but this was my experience. A lot of people will tell you similar stories – the worse you feel, the better you might have done.

My advice: spend zero time analyzing your performance, distract yourself with other things whether it be more studying or pleasures, and go into score release day with the attitude that based on what you know that there is as good of chance at receiving a score of 50 vs. 99…I realize that it is probably impossible to not think about your score but it would've saved me so many hours of worry and lost sleep if I would've just chilled out until I got my score.

If you put the time in, you probably passed. Not always the case, but most of the time it is. Good luck to you and try not to sweat it!

What really sucks ass is I've put in the time…~250 hours and thousands of MC and I still have zero confidence that I passed REG on the retake….Really hope all the studying actually pays off

@NeedsA75 I used to feel the same way after my retakes, I was never confident after exams no matter how much I studied. Like I said, its not always true – there are people out there who spend countless hours on each exam and have to take them many times before passing. But in most cases, you find that the studying does pay off. My point is you never know until you know, and your own confidence is not always a good indicator as to how well you did on the exams. It definitely wasn't for me.
