    Hi everyone
I just got laid off and I would appreciate your advice.
I saw the lay off coming a month ago and started looking for work and unfortunately I have not received an offer but I have had interviews and still having interviews. I have one tomorrow. How do I go about telling the recruiters I’m working with? I had a few interviews the past week and waiting to hear back for the second round of interviews. In the event I get called back for second interviews (Amen) how do I tell the company since they interviewed me when I still had the job?
I don’t want to make a mistake so I’m asking for help and would greatly appreciate it and I thank you all in advance
I would greatly appreciate prayers as well
I’m the worst at interviews, my accent becomes even clearer at that time Lol.

And a Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. There’s no one without love 😊

I am sorry you got laid off.
Not sure what you mean by your accent, but English is not my native tongue and my accent tends to be more pronounced when I am in a nervous situation like interviews. I wouldn't let that bother you though. Speak a little slower if it helps. Be confident.
W/ that said, first thing you should do is apply for unemployment. You never know how long you will be w/o a job and it doesn't hurt to prepare for the worst.
Also, why were you laid off? If it was a performance issue, it'd be more tough. If you were laid off because the company you worked for was trying to cut cost, you have an easier story to tell.
Don't volunteer “negative” information, but when asked, be honest.

Thank you Jombe. English isn’t my first language so I have an accent.
It was a mass lay off due to the company loosing majority of their business so they needed to cut costs. Half of the workforce was let go unfortunately.

For the interview tomorrow I want to have my resume reflect the end of my job. Is that ok? If they don’t request my resume I won’t give it to them obviously, but in the event they do should I have it reflect that because the resume they received during application shows me as employed

Just be honest whether in person or via resume.
Like you said, I wouldn't send an updated one unless they explicitly asked for one, but yeah, have an updated one ready to go.

3 companies I worked in the past went under and every interview I had since then, I told them that's why I had to leave. No one had concerns so far.

Employers don't look negatively on layoffs, they realize it happens. I'd just say there was a downsizing where you were, xx people were let go and you unfortunately were one of them. It won't be a problem.
